Watches and the NFL: AFC East

Our Watch Picks for the AFC East

In the NFL, every division likes to believe they’re supreme. However, one particular division is home to a team with the record to prove it. The AFC East currently consists of the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and none other than the New England Patriots. Previously, it included the Houston Oilers and Baltimore Colts. Since the division’s enfranchisement in 1960, their teams have represented them in nineteen Super Bowls and won eight. The Patriots made ten of those appearances.

With a powerhouse team like the Patriots in the division, the AFC East has made a name for itself. The Patriots’ Head Coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady are two of the most instantly recognizable names in sports. And, despite their more inconsistent records, fans of the Dolphins, Bills, and Jets are some of the most loyal in the league. Here, we’ve rounded up our watch pairings for the teams of the AFC East.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills were one of the original teams within the American Football League, first established in 1960. They joined the NFL ten years later in 1970 as part of the AFL-NFL merger. Since the beginning, the Bills have been a somewhat unpredictable team. They’re the only team to win four consecutive conference championships and lose four consecutive Super Bowls. For nearly 50 years, through every up and down, Ralph Wilson led them. He owned the Bills from their founding to his death in 2014 at the age of 95.

We think the timeless and simplicity of the Oris Artix Date perfectly represents the Bills. Its design is straightforward and classic, yet it has a unique sense of depth. This particular all-white variation nicely complements the Bills’ team colors: red, white, and blue.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins are Florida’s oldest professional sports team. They began play in the AFL in 1966 and joined the NFL in 1970 as part of the merger. Just two years later in 1972, they made their first Super Bowl appearance but lost to the Dallas Cowboys. The following year, they completed a perfect season culminating in a Super Bowl win over the Washington Redskins. This is the first and only time a team has done so in NFL history. They went on to secure another Super Bowl victory in 1974, defeating the Minnesota Vikings. This also made them the first team to appear in three consecutive Super Bowls. They went on to make two more Super Bowl appearances in 1983 and 1985 but lost both games.

Our pick for the Dolphins is the Omega Seamaster Ploprof 1200M Co-Axial. The model not only reflects the nautical spirit of the team but also incorporates their signature orange and white colors. It’s one of the most distinctive dive watch variations. This beastly model boasts a number of impressive stats, like water resistance up to 1200 meters.

New York Jets

The Jets, formerly the Titans, established in 1959 as one of the original members of the AFL. Like the Bills and Dolphins, they joined the NFL in 1970 as part of the merger. They made their first Super Bowl appearance in 1969 where they defeated the Baltimore Colts. Since then, they’ve made the playoffs thirteen times and competed in the AFC Championship Game four times.

For the Jets, we chose the Bremont Pilot Watch. The team got their aviation-inspired name because they used to play in Shea Stadium near LaGuardia Airport. So, a pilot watch seemed like an ideal match for the team. This particular model also features a unique green dial and leather strap with white hour markers and accents. These hues perfectly represent the team colors.

New England Patriots

The Patriots need no introduction. Since the arrival of Belichick and Brady in the new millennium, the team has dominated the league. They’re one of the most successful teams in NFL history with fifteen AFC East titles under their belts. They’ve also set numerous records. The Patriots have the longest winning streak in NFL history. In addition, they notch the most consecutive titles won by a team in NFL history.

The unique TAG Heuer Silverstone Reissue Limited Editionis our pairing for the Patriots. Heuer first introduced the Silverstone in the 1970’s. In 2010, the brand revived the model as part of their 150thanniversary collection. The Silverstone is most notable for its unconventional square case. This particular variation features a rich blue and white color scheme, reflecting the Patriot’s signature hues.
