There’s no shortage of high-quality single-player action games coming out of China lately. Following the success of titles like Black Myth: Wukong, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Dynasty Warriors: Origins, it appears we have another epic on the horizon in the form of 24 Entertainment Lin’an’s upcoming Blood Message.
Best known for their work on NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, the studio and its publisher, NetEase Games made the announcement in the form of a lengthy trailer, showcasing the game’s high-fidelity cinematics and gameplay.

Many Sony titles will be available to new players at a discount for the first time ever.
Though no release date has been provided, the trailer did state that the game is coming to both PC and consoles at some point in the future.
A press release from lead producer Zhipeng Hu also shone some light on the aims and ambitions of the project: “As our first completely single-player-focused experience from NetEase Games, after two decades of deep dedication to the gaming industry, we are prepared to deliver a truly epic and cinematic experience for players around the world.”
An Epic Retelling of History
Set during the Shazhou Uprising of 848 AD, the story is said to follow a nameless protagonist and his son, who will presumably fight alongside Zhang Yichao as part of the famous Guiyi Circuit campaign.
Rather than focusing on fantasy elements or a Wuxia style, Blood Message aims to deliver a more grounded and realistic approach to events, though that’s not to say any of the grandeur and significance will be stripped away. To the contrary, Blood Message’s dramatic trailer is reminiscent of the great epics of Chinese cinema, such as Red Cliff or House of Flying Daggers.
According to NetEase Games, players will “cross lethal landscapes including desolate deserts and the vast wilderness of East and Central Asia to survive brutal sieges, unforgiving terrain, and overwhelming odds.”
As the trailer shows, the game will seemingly feature a blend of survival, stealth, and combat, though it’s the visual rendering of Tang-era China in Unreal Engine 5 that really steals the show.
Additionally, the story looks set to take place on a grand scale while remaining grounded in close family connections. “How can countless ordinary people—smaller than dust—leave a mark on history?” wrote NetEase, “The Blood Message development team offers this answer: the remembrance and praise of future generations become their eternal monument.”
If Blood Message can live up to its promises, it’s certain to catch on in global popularity like its predecessors. For the time being, more information can be found via the Blood Message official website.
