Ubud is a town amid tropical rainforests, ideal for those who want to soak in nature without having to travel too far from the city center. For tourists, an Ubud tour means a rejuvenating escape to the lush greenery and overlooking rice paddies. It is situated in the heart of Bali, approximately an hour’s drive from major beach towns such as Canggu and Seminyak.
Most tourists allot at least a couple of days for an Ubud Tour. But for this trip, we decided to have a day trip instead since we have a limited schedule in our itinerary.

Before leaving for our Ubud tour at 9 am, we first had our floating breakfast in Mailaku House to start our day right!
Cretya
Our first stop was Cretya. It is a luxury resort and restaurant known for its unique multi-level infinity pools overlooking verdant rice terraces. It is a visually stunning place where you can take a swim and enjoy a breathtaking view. The pools are exclusively for adults, which means it’s not a family-friendly attraction.
Entrance Fee = 150,000 IDR or ≈520 PHP

We know it’s a day club, but we didn’t go here for a party. We’re just curious travelers who want to see what people are talking about. Surely, the place is visually beautiful with nature views and lots of plants all over. It’s just that the vibe was not for us. We actually stayed here for just a couple of hours. If you’re like us, who aren’t into loud music and parties, you might not enjoy Cretya. Honestly, we kinda felt out of place since most of the tourists were non-Asian (except for the 2 cute Japanese girls who were busy taking photos).
But if you’re still interested and it’s not that big of a deal for you, feel free to enjoy! The entrance fee includes use of the pools, locker, comfort room, and complimentary drinks.
For our lunch, we had our packed lunch from our trusted Mailaku. We just took our lunch inside the car while on our way to the Monkey Forest.
Monkey Forest
This sanctuary is a home for Balinese long-tailed macaque monkeys. Monkey Forest is perfect for leisurely walks while observing the monkeys playing, eating, and getting bored in their natural habitat. The monkeys here are free to roam around the forest, and they can come and go as they choose, which makes this wildlife encounter ethical and non-exploitative. The park is open for visitors every day from 9 am until 6 pm.
Entrance fee = 80,000 IDR or ≈280 PHP

While this experience was fun and relaxing, we still need to take precautions as these cheeky monkeys have the habit of grabbing anything they like. One monkey tried to grab the eco bag that Jec was holding, and after a while, another one wanted to pluck off the flower bling bling on my bag.
You really need to take care of your belongings, or better yet, lessen the stuff you’re gonna bring inside. If you’re planning to use a tripod for your phone or camera, don’t attempt to do so. You might say goodbye to your precious gadgets forever. Also, don’t touch or come too close to the monkeys as they might hurt you. Remember, they are wild animals in their natural habitat, and their behavior could really become unpredictable.
Kanto Lampo Waterfall
This is actually outside Ubud, but just a short drive away from Monkey Forest (about 20-30 minutes), so we took the chance to include in our Ubud tour itinerary.
Kanto Lampo Waterfall is hidden in the rainforests at the heart of Bali. It became famous for its terraced rock formations and gentle curtain-like cascades that flow down to a dippable natural pool. The water at its base is only waist-deep, which makes it very tourist-friendly. The waterfall is surrounded by lush forests and people come here for a refreshing dip and take stunning photos.
Entrance fee = 20,000 IDR or ≈70 PHP

Take note that this is a very touristy place, where many visitors take turns posing for photos. The middle part of the waterfall was very crowded, so we opted to take our photos at the side of the waterfall. Beware that the water may be extremely cold. I tried to sit below the cascade but withdrew right away. I decided I’ll just be content wading in the waist-deep water and savoring the view.
There are shower cubicles available near the entrance where we changed our clothes. You can also grab some snack and a few souvenirs before going back to the parking area.
End of Ubud Tour
After this, we’re about to head straight to our hotel but out driver suggested we should try souvenir shopping at Krisna Bali Souvenir Center which is about 20-min drive and just along the way to our hotel. To our surprise, shopping here was way cheaper than in Ubud Market, considering it’s such a massive and airconditioned shopping center. This is where we bought the most of our souvenirs to take home for our relatives and friends (we also bought a few from Ubud Market the day before).
