Portland, Maine rapper Roxx The ’96er drops new visuals for his track “WEE-BEY,” inspired by Roland “Wee-Bey” Brice, a loyal soldier in the Barksdale Organization from the HBO hit series The Wire. Produced by Junkey 3k, the track finds Roxx The ’96er weaving heavy truths over a trap-infused soundscape, confronting the cost of loyalty and the lessons that come when the smoke clears.
Roxx The ’96er uses “WEE-BEY” to channel his creative drive through a blend of real-life influence, raw emotion, and the sonic inspirations that fuel his art. Currently a standalone record, Roxx hints that the song may be a part of a larger rollout, possibly leading up to a full-length project by the end of 2025. If this is any indication of what’s to come, both loyal fans and new listeners alike are in for a solid release.
