Back in 2018 Montblanc introduced the 1858 Geosphere worldtimer watch, which featured two rotating hemisphere. Now, for the first time, there are two limited edition, annual calendar versions of the Geosphere model, powered by a new Minerva manufacture movement.
The 1858 Geosphere Annual Calendar Limited Edition is available in two variants – 18k Lime Gold (750/1000), or steel, both in 42mm sized cases with fixed bezels. The latter is limited to 100 pieces and the Lime Gold, thirty pieces.
One (obvious) point to note at the outset is that the two new limited edition Annual Calendars only have a single rotating globe for the northern hemisphere, alongside a day/ might indication, and an orange GMT hand and a 24-hour display at 6 o’clock on the dial. The globe is made from blue sapphire and hand-painted and the southern hemisphere is available on request.
The dial itself is silvery-white, with the inner section featuring a sunburst decoration and the surrounding ring, grained. A large date sits under the 12 o’clock position, and the months are placed around the dial’s edge on the flange, with July replaced by ‘Minerva’, a reference to the date (30 July, 1887) when ‘Minerva’ was registered as a trademark. The indicator for the current month is a small red arrow.
The stainless steel model has blued hands and markers, whereas the Lime Gold model features matched hands and markers.
Flipping it over shows an open case back through which you can see the new manually wound MB M14.58 Minerva manufacture movement which beats at 18,000VPH and has a power reserve of 65 hours.
Both the Montblanc 1858 Geosphere Annual Calendar Limited Edition in Lime Gold and in stainless steel come on blue calfskin straps with a triple folding clasp. The RRP for the Lime Gold version is EUR65,000, and the stainless steel is EUR50,000.
