While another celebrity seems to launch a tequila every day, Joel Zimmerman – AKA deadmau5 – is bringing something different to the party. He’s partnered with Coco Vodka on a specialty deadmau5 can to drink while jamming to Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff.
CoCo Vodka was admittedly new to me when it appeared on my doorstep. Their original canned cocktail was coconut water, vodka, and sparkling water (they’ve since added pineapple, lime, and a rum version). It sounded like a refreshing take, pun intended, on a very crowded market ready-to-drink (RTD) market. They’re not the only name in the game, but the Canadian company has been around since 2019.

Immediately, we’re transported to a white sand beach, walking along the shore with warm water slowing over our ankles. We can picture drinking this on a boat, on the beach, on the golf course, on a swing, during a lunch date…really, just about anywhere. ~ Seltzer Nation
Now you can add music festivals to that list of places to be instantly transported.
Unlike many celebrity booze partnerships, deadmau5 isn’t pretending he’s out there perfecting the recipe or climbing trees to pick the coconuts at just the right time. After trying a couple of their options, it’s clear they already have a solid product and don’t need any help. Instead, Zimmerman and CoCo Vodka created the slick specialty deadmau5 can and called it a day. The partnership lies more in promoting and selling the brand at his shows.
Random aside – this feels like the opposite of when I was invited to the Florida Georgia Line concert (with Nelly and Backstreet Boys as the opening acts) because they were launching Old Camp peach pecan whiskey. The problem was… you couldn’t get Old Camp at the concert. That didn’t make it any less fun to sit on Wrigley Field and watch the strangest collection of artists perform together.
The limited edition cans will be available at Zimmerman’s shows, but you can also get them directly from the CoCo Vodka site. Admittedly, the price might be a bit of a barrier for some folks.
Specialty deadmau5 cans are $16 for a four-pack ($15 for normal labels). That feels a little high when the hard seltzer crowd has come to expect a 12-pack for around that price and the potentially more comparable Cutwater canned cocktails are about $12 per 4-pack. That said, these are great drinks, and people are willing to pay for quality.
