Rema’s ‘Is It A Crime‘ is the most streamed Nigerian song of 2025 so far on Spotify
The Nigerian music industry is already setting the pace for what promises to be another eventful year, with top artists making their mark on the charts.
Leading the pack is Rema, whose latest single ‘Baby (Is It A Crime)’ has emerged as the most-streamed Nigerian song of 2025 on Spotify.
Released on February 7, 2024, after weeks of anticipation, the track samples ‘Is It A Crime’ from British band Sade’s classic album ‘Promise,’ blending nostalgia with Rema’s signature Afrobeats fusion.

Within just three weeks of release, the song has amassed over 14 million streams, making it the leading Nigerian hit of the year so far.
Following closely behind is OdumoduBlvck’s ‘Pity This Boy,’ featuring Victony, which has already racked up an impressive 7.5 million streams.
The track’s success adds to what has been a remarkable start to 2025 for the rapper, who recently earned eight nominations at the 17th Headies, including a nod for Next Rated.
Gospel sensation Lawrence Oyor has also made a significant impact with his uplifting track ‘Favour,‘ which has resonated with audiences, accumulating 6.6 million streams. Asake, known for his consistent hit-making ability, kicked off the year with ‘Why Love,’ which currently stands at 3.2 million streams.
Other songs rounding out the top 10 include Ayra Starr’s ‘All The Love‘ and Burna Boy’s latest single, which serves as a preview to his eagerly awaited eighth studio album, ‘No Signs of Weakness.’
With Nigerian artists already dominating streaming charts, 2025 is shaping up to be another groundbreaking year for Afrobeats and the global influence of Nigerian music.
