Murder trial begins for landlord accused in hate crime death of young boy — CAIR-Chicago

CAIR-Chicago’s team was present this morning at the Will County Courthouse for the trial of Joseph Czuba, the Plainfield landlord charged with murder, attempted murder, and hate crimes in the fatal stabbing of 6-year-old Wadee Al Fayoumi shortly after October 7th, 2023. Czuba’s actions were influenced by radicalized conservative commentary surrounding the genocide in Gaza.

Staff Attorney Joe Milburn addressed the media this morning, stating, “We firmly pray and hope that Mr. Czuba will be locked up for the rest of his life, so we can send a message that hate crimes against anyone on the basis of their religion and national origin are not tolerated.”

Following jury selection today, the judge confirmed the trial is expected to conclude by the end of the week, or Monday at the latest.
