Concha y Toro Sales Jump 15% To $1 Billion In 2024

March 12, 2025

Chile’s Viña Concha y Toro rode double-digit growth across a host of markets—including the U.S.—to a 15% sales gain to $1 billion in 2024, on volume up 3% to 33.1 million 9-liter cases. EBITDA jumped 59% for the year to $162 million. The company’s prestige label Viña Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon Puente Alto Puente Alto Vineyard 2021 ($175) earned Wine of the Year honors from Wine Spectator last fall.

In the U.S., the Viña Concha y Toro USA unit posted sales up 19% to $140 million, as volume increased 11% to 3.2 million cases. Among the wines driving growth were Frontera from Chile, which rose by 6%; the Bonterra Estate Collection from California (+36%); and Trivento Reserve from Argentina (+13%). Casillero del Diablo from Chile also saw solid growth. At the high end, Don Melchor enjoyed a nearly 1,000% increase in the final three months of the year.

According to Impact Databank, the Concha y Toro brand—encompassing Frontera, Casillero del Diablo, and other labels—saw depletions increase 3.7% to 1.9 million cases in the U.S. last year, while Trivento rose 12% to just under 160,000 cases. California’s Bonterra was roughly flat in depletion terms, while the Fetzer and 1000 Stories brands saw declines.

Bonterra, which last year extended its higher-priced Estate Collection with a Sauvignon Blanc from Mendocino retailing at $22, has looked to connect with consumers on the sustainability front as an organic brand, with its estate vineyards receiving the regenerative organic certification from Regenerative Organic Alliance.

Viña Concha y Toro CEO Eduardo Guilisasti called 2024 an “exceptionally positive year” for the company, marked by “robust sales and margin performance” as well as the Wine of the Year accolade for Don Melchor. “In 1987, Don Melchor’s inaugural harvest was priced at US$50 per 9-liter case,” he noted. “Fast forward to 2023, the 35th harvest saw the release of 18,300 cases, commanding a price of US$900 a case.”—Daniel Marsteller
