Darkoo x “2 in 1” Album Review – The Hip Hop African

Darkoo, a South London-based artist of Nigerian descent making waves, released her debut EP titled “2 in 1”. “2 in 1,” the title of the EP, alludes to Darkoo’s dual musical personas. Her arsenal ranges from upbeat Afrobeat anthems that start parties to nostalgic R&B love ballads.

Darkoo’s “Drunk Texting” is a captivating song that combines her distinctive vocal style with catchy beats. A closer look at the lyrics illustrates the depth and attraction of the song. Of all the songs on this album, “Drunk Texting” is undoubtedly the most memorable track.

I’d rate ‘2 in 1’ a solid four out of five stars overall. The project is short, taking only twenty minutes to digest. I liked how Darkoo’s music showcases her Nigerian and London influences, giving it a diverse sound. Her music is truly versatile, which is why it should be a regular feature on your playlist. It feels easy to enjoy and finds a balance between being lighthearted and sincere.
