Aru Majo ga Shinu Made – Episode 2 – Meg and Attempting to Change Fate

Meg gets frustrated that she needs to earn 3 drops per day to reach her goal within a year.

Now that Meg finds out she only has one year to live unless she fills the bottle with tears, she starts her quest. However, it seems that reaching this goal will be a challenge as she pushes further.

Meg finds out that she has a curse that will lead her to death from accelerated aging unless she fills up that bottle with teardrops. As expected, the owl figured it out, and she needs to collect 3 drops per day. Yep, it’s an impossible mission unless Meg finds a way to earn more teardrops. It’s funny how she freaks out as Fine enters the room and wonders what is wrong. As expected, Meg hugs her as she cries. Meg thinks that she is doomed.

Meg hugs Fine for comfort.
Fine sees how pretty the drops are.
Yep, this is a running gag of Meg wanting to marry Fine.

Meg eventually shows the bottle with two teardrops, two of which aren’t tears of joy. She is up for a big challenge, although Fine thinks they are beautiful. Of course, Fine admits that Meg is a kind person and tells her to be honest. Of course, Meg asks Fine to marry her, but she turns it down. I wonder if this will become a running gag.

Fine came over because she wondered if Faust could fix the old watch her grandfather gave her before he passed away. She has a strong attachment to it, but the fairy is weak. Even taking it to a shop that specializes in fixing clocks and watches.

That childhood incident that lead to Meg and Fine becoming best friends.

While he took a look at it, we see a nice flashback. Fine finds Meg all beaten up by the boys. After she bandaged Meg’s forehead, she cried and felt terrible for Meg. Meg tells her not to cry and would rather see her smile. As expected, she doesn’t change at all, as she is kind and ensures that Meg has no intention of dying. After all, she wants to see it though.

At least Meg give the fairy a sendoff as Fine witnesses it.

Sadly, the shopkeeper gives the bad news that he can’t fix the watch. Fine knows how attached she is to the watch, so Meg memorializes it. She used her magic to send off the fairy inside the watch. While the watch won’t function anymore, at least the fairy in it is reborn. Fine, of course, see all her memories with her grandfather from seeing the lights. With that, Meg got her third teardrop.

Meg notices something about Flare.
Meg wants to save the grandmother no matter what.

In the second segment, Meg helps Flare when she notices a dark shadow around her. It’s the reaper, indicating she doesn’t have much time before passing. Somehow, Meg can see them. Of course, Faust says that Meg shouldn’t interfere with Flare’s fate, but she gets emotional and feels that she needs to do something.

Meg spends time with Flare.
Meg brings Flare’s son and his family.
Flare got to see her son after years not seeing him.

In short, Meg spent time with Flare, but the reaper got worse as time went on. Eventually, Flare told her about her husband, who passed away and her son. Flare hasn’t seen her son for a long time, giving her an idea. That is after Flare took her to that tree on its last legs. Meg brings Flare’s son, wife, and child to see her.

Sure, Meg is unable to save Flare, but Faust ensures her that Meg gave her a happy ending.

As expected, Flare seems happy to see them again before she finally passes away. Yes, it’s a somber ending, but at least she was glad to see her son and his family. Meg can’t change her fate, but at least she can change the ending. However, Meg can change hers as she can fill up that bottle.
