Three acoustic folk songs that will remind you why you love the dulcet sounds of the guitar – Ear To The Ground Music

bonbonfire – “Trampolines”
-These harmonies are worth listening to the song. Just… calm your spirit and listen to this wonderful track. It’s so rewarding. The rest of the song though, from the acoustic guitar to the lovely lyricism, are also quite good. It’s an artful type of folk music that reminds me a bit of a band I featured years ago called Bears of Legend. It’s a sound that you won’t hear on the hand-clappy indie folk stations, but it’s certainly captivating and intriguing. There’s a joyfulness in the lyrical content about tightening the strings on a trampoline, but it’s also a love song. Definitely give it a spin and indulge in the sweet, sweet harmonies.

Lonnie Rott – “Homesick”
-If you’re a fan of calm acoustic guitar and a sincere vocal, this song will certainly resonate. It’s a cool and relaxing tune that is equal parts folk with confessional, narrative lyricism. “I guess I’m homesick for a place I’ve never been looking for the end of all my wanting.” What a great line! It’s a bit hopeful, but there’s this spiritual heaviness to it that connects deeply. I appreciate the expressive vocal harmonies as well. The full production is quintessential acoustic folk music, a distillation and fulfillment of a wonderful genre. I’m really glad to have had the privilege of connecting with this song. I hope you will enjoy it as well.

Stefan J. Selbert – “Among the Branches”
-On the surface, this is “just” another acoustic guitar folk song… but let me challenge you to really engage with this song. It’s got some of the most poetic lyrics I’ve heard all year. Selbert sings with conviction and a careful lyrical style. Unlike the old “three chords and the truth” style that repeats verse and chorus, this song is more of a linear style. It’s about the unique perspective on life at a certain point, looking back where memories bring light to your life. It’s a deeply human story. I feel like I could teach this song in a humanities class; it’s that good. It’s truly a work of art. I hope you’ll spend some time listening to this one.
