El Mac x RETNA Reignite Their Iconic Collaboration for Miami Art Week – StreetArtNews

Goldman Global Arts Gallery is set to deliver one of the major highlights of Miami Art Week 2025 as El Mac and RETNA officially reunite after more than a decade. Their new body of collaborative works will premiere on December 2 at GGA Gallery inside the Wynwood Walls Museum, marking the return of a partnership that shaped some of the most influential murals of the 2000s and early 2010s.

El Mac’s luminous, highly technical portraits and RETNA’s architectural script once fused across city walls in Los Angeles and Miami, leaving behind murals that helped define the rise of contemporary street art. Now, the pair is stepping back into the studio together with a refined visual language shaped by years of independent evolution.

The 2025 collection introduces a more measured, mature dialogue between the two artists. RETNA’s calligraphy takes on a structural, rhythmic presence, while El Mac’s portraiture shows an intensified focus on detail, symbolism, and emotional depth. Their combined approach feels both familiar and newly energized.

A brand new large scale mural in the Wynwood Walls Museum will accompany the gallery presentation, reconnecting their collaboration to the public space that first amplified their impact. Together, the indoor works and the outdoor piece form a complete narrative that bridges the intimate and monumental.

“Wynwood was transformed by artists who changed the visual tone of the neighborhood,” said Jessica Goldman Srebnick, founder and curator of GGA Gallery. “El Mac and RETNA were part of that foundation. Their creative chemistry remains powerful, and bringing them together here feels like a moment everyone has been waiting for.”
