Advent Beer Calendar 2025: Day 14: Leikam Brewing Maccabeer IPA

A glass of Maccabeer IPA from Leikam Brewing, via Facebook

Happy Hanukkah! Hanukkah begins at sundown today, December 14, and during those years when the holiday falls within the Advent calendar dates, I like to select a beer to commemorate it. In that vein, today’s beer comes from Leikam Brewing of Portland, Oregon, a kosher, community-centric brewery, which brews up a winter IPA for the Festival of Lights: Maccabeer IPA.

Maccabeer is 6.3% alcohol by volume, and each year the hop bill is changed up.

This years iteration is brewed with Nelson, Vic Secret, Amarillo, Chinook and McKenzie. Notes of pine, grapefruit, candied orange and pineapple and light herbaceousness.

If you find yourself in Portland for the next week, Leikam is hosting a number of festive events for Hanukkah, and notes that yes, there will be sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts) and latkes to pair with the beer. It’s a perfect day week to enjoy a Maccabeer and celebrate.
