Liparidae, or snailfish, are a diverse family of marine fishes widely distributed from the coastal shallows to the great hadal depths of the Mariana Trench. Unlike their squishy namesake, they’re not invertebrates; snailfish are bony ray-finned fishes just like 99% of living fish species.
