When planning for severe weather, there is a timeline you should follow. Above is a great graphic provided by the National Weather Service in Birmingham about this timeline for a few days out, the day before, and the day of. Its important to plan ahead and not wait until the last minute to determine what you will do if severe weather strikes.
In addition to the timeline, you can be a hero! It is so important to contact your friends and family during severe weather. They may not know severe weather is imminent and you quite literally could save their life. If you notice they are under a severe weather warning, call or text them, day or night and make them aware of the situation.
