Call to Artists, 2025 Mountain Maryland Plein Air — Cumberland, MD

Deadline: February 28    This competitive event is a hallmark of the Western Maryland art scene. Located in the Appalachian Mountains, the area is resplendent with magnificent vistas, pristine state forests and historic architecture. The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad adds to the small-town, turn-of-the-century charm, which includes attractions like the C&O Canal, Casselman Bridge, and the Potomac River. Call for Entries, Flourish: An Annual Juried National Exhibit of Floral and Botanical Artworks — Norfolk, VA

Deadline: March 2    Flourish is an exhibition of floral and botanical artworks from across the country. Work must depict flowers and/or plants to be considered. Works can include other objects, but the focal point/subject of the work should focus on the floral or botanical element(s). Call for Entry, Works on Paper 2025 National Juried Exhibition — Loveladies, NJ

Deadline: March 31    Works on Paper 2025 is the 27th Annual National Juried Competition and Exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences, Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Works on Paper can include but is not limited to Drawing, Painting on Paper, hand pulled Prints, Photographic Prints, Digital Works on Paper, and Paper constructions that can be wall hung. Deadline: May 15    The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences, Loveladies, New Jersey, invites applications to 40 Under 40 2025, a juried exhibition. The competition and exhibition are open to artists 18 to 40 years of age who currently work and live in the continental US. Deadline: July 31    The Arcadian Gallery is proud to announce its inaugural American Wildlife Art Competition and Exhibition, a celebration of nature-themed original art and prints. Call for Entry, Street Photography Juried Exhibition — Online

Deadline: February 9    The New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA) invites photographers world-wide to submit images using any photographic process (print, image transfer, emulsion transfer, encaustic, black and white, etc.). Winners will receive $4,000 in cash awards, be featured in the NYC4PA Online Gallery and in the winners catalog. The Grand Prize winning image will be posted on the NYC4PA home page. Open Call, Publication in Art Magazine

Deadline: February 15   Visual Art Journal is a magazine that selects and publishes works of talented emerging artists. Magazine features up to 120 elegantly designed pages, printed on high-quality paper and is distributed worldwide. Artists are encouraged to submit their work. Deadline: February 15    The Artist In Residence (AIR) program provides artists with studio space for up to one semester in duration. We are looking for artist(s) to creatively capitalize on available in-person and virtual learning environments to engage our students, support and enhance the artistic and educational environment within the Visual and Performing Arts Department, and add to the visibility of the arts at Montgomery College (MC) Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. Call to Artists, Long Meadow Art Residency — Berkshire, MA

Deadline: February 15    Long Meadow Art Residency is a six week – three-month solo residency in the Berkshires. LMAR offers studio space and housing, a $3,000 monthly living stipend, a $2,500 supply budget, as well as access to a vehicle for transportation. Click here for details.

Call for Artists, BAC 2025 Emerging Artist Fellowship — Ossining, NY

Deadline: February 19    In 2022, Bethany Arts Community (BAC) identified the need and opportunity to support a longer-term fellowship specifically for emerging artists ages 21+. Call for Entries, Wayne Art Center 17th Annual Plein Air Festival — Wayne, PA

Deadline: February 20    Wayne Art Center’s 17th Annual Plein Air Festival will take place May 4 through May 10, 2025 when 32 juried artists from across the country arrive to paint scenes within a 35-mile radius of Wayne, Pennsylvania including historic Main Line towns, rolling farm country, downtown Philadelphia and the Delaware and Schuylkill riverfronts. The work resulting from the 7-day competition will be exhibited at the Wayne Art Center Preview Party & Sale on May 10 and remains on view through June 21, 2025. Call for Artists, Sculpture for The Fitzgerald of Palisades — D.C.

Deadline: February 23    The Fitzgerald of Palisades, a Kisco Signature community, in partnership with Amy Kaslow Gallery, invites artists and artist teams to submit proposals for a new publicly viewed, privately funded sculpture in Washington, DC. Call for Entries, Bethesda Painting Awards — Bethesda, MD

Deadline: February 26    The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District once again invites local artists to submit work to the 21st annual Bethesda Painting Awards. This juried art competition awards $14,000 in prizes to four selected winners. Click here for details.

 

2025 New River Art Biennial Exhibition — Blacksburg, VA

Deadline: March 1    This is the 18th New River Art Juried Biennial Exhibition. This exhibit traditionally rotates every two years between the Floyd Center for the Arts, the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley in Pulaski and the Blacksburg Regional Art Association (BRAA). The 2025 exhibition is sponsored by BRAA and hosted by the Moss Arts Center for the second time! The BRAA, established in 1950, created this juried biennial in 1991 and remains the driving force behind the event. Click here for details.

 

Call for Entries, Art Speaks Juried Exhibition — Mathews, VA

Deadline: March 1    Calling all Virginia artists! The Bay School Community Arts Center is accepting submissions for the 2025 Art Speaks Juried Exhibition, April 26 to May 26. The show is open to any artist living or working in Virginia, 18 or older. Both 2D and 3D media are eligible, and $6,350 in prize money is available for award. Click here for details.

 

Call to Artists, Montpelier Arts Center Solicits Exhibition Proposals — Laurel, MD

Deadline: March 2    Montpelier Arts Center is holding a competition for exhibitions that will be held in the Library Gallery, September 2025–August 2026. Eligible artists must be 18 years and older and reside in Maryland. An honorarium of $500 will be presented for each exhibition (i.e. groups would share the $500 honorarium). Call for Artists, Department of Parks & Recreation, Prince George’s County Commemorative Public Art — Prince George’s County, MD

Deadline: March 2    The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Prince George’s County (PGC) is inviting artists and artist-teams with interest and professional experience in creating site-specific public art commissions, to submit their name and qualifications to an Artist Resource Listing, for outdoor public artworks to be created for a variety of historic sites throughout Prince George’s County. At designated intervals of the program, artist or artist-teams will be selected from the Listing, invited to participate and paid a fee to submit a competitive proposal for a specific site. The artist or artist-team chosen to move forward with the project will be contracted to design, fabricate, and install artwork for that designated historical site in Prince George’s County. The anticipated public art commission for each site will range from $15,000 to $150,000. Call to Artists, Augusta Savage Grant

Deadline: March 3    The National Sculpture Society presents a $2,500 grant to be awarded to a talented emerging sculptor who self-identifies as Black or African American. Deadline: March 5    Have you ever wanted to see your art on the walls of Montpelier Arts Center? Call to Artists, Artist in Residency Bureau of Land Management King Range National Conservation Area — Whitehorn, CA

Deadline: March 7    The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Shelter Cove Arts and Recreation Foundation (SCARF), and the Friends of the Lost Coast (FOLC) are pleased to announce the Spring 2025 session of the King Range National Conservation Area (KRNCA) Artist in Residence (AIR) Program. Call for Entries, VMRC Juried Art Exhibition 2025 — Harrisonburg, VA

Deadline: March 10    An annual juried exhibition, now entering its 22nd year, accepting entries of original art in two and three dimensions from artists nationwide. Approximately 100 works will be selected for display in the Park Gables Gallery on the campus of the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community (VMRC) during the month of June. The Exhibition will be open to the public as well as to VMRC residents and staff. A total of $6,250 in cash prizes will awarded and grant funding for continued artistic development is available. Deadline: March 23    Join a thriving community of professional artists in the Montpelier Resident Artist Program. Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC) is featuring county artists at its newest art space Arts’tination at National Harbor, the premier arts and entertainment destination in our regions Located at 162 Waterfront Street, National Harbor, MD. Pyramid Atlantic Workshop Proposals – Hyattsville, MD

Pyramid Atlantic offers year-round workshops in printmaking, papermaking, book arts, and hybrids thereof. We offer multi-week, daytime, evening, and weekend intensives for adults in our fully equipped studios. 2020 has been dedicated to the Year of the Woman in Maryland. Do you have an inspiring story about vital contributions of women-identifying people who are artists, arts administrators, or cultural workers? Busboys and Poets is looking for submissions from Maryland and Virginia artists as it expands to new locations in both areas. Alterwork Studios Online Residency

This residency was designed to give emerging contemporary artists an online platform to create new work and explore their practice. Accepting Artwork for Curatorial Review by AIWA

The Alper Initiative for Washington Art features five exhibitions per year in the newly constructed first floor space in the American University Museum. We accept submissions, on a rolling basis,  from Washington artists of all ages and backgrounds, and working in diverse media. The museum’s Director and Curator, Jack Rasmussen, will select curators who will review these submissions for potential use in Alper Initiative exhibitions. For more information click here.

 

 

Call For Entry Hamilton Arts Collective Guest Artist Exhibition – Baltimore, MD

The Hamilton Arts Collective (HAC) and the Hamilton Gallery seek applications from artists for month-long Guest Artist exhibitions at Hamilton Gallery located at 5502 Harford Road, Baltimore, MD. The selected guest artists will be invited to exhibit a selection of their current work in Gallery I of the Hamilton Gallery. The Guest Artist exhibition is featured in Hamilton Gallery communications and will be promoted by the HAC and Hamilton Gallery. Howard County Arts Council Quarterly Call For Artists – Ellicott City, MD

The Howard County Arts Council gallery program was established to enhance the public’s appreciation of the visual arts, provide a venue to exhibit the work of local, regional, and national artists in a professional space, and provide leadership in the arts by presenting a broad spectrum of arts in all media from both emerging and established artists. Artists, ages 18 and older, working in all media and styles including time-based and installation artists, are encouraged to apply either individually or as a group. The Creativity Grant Program State of Maryland (MD)

Deadline: Rolling. The purpose of the Creativity Grant Program is to strengthen the vitality and sustainability of artists and small organizations to maintain a strong and stable arts infrastructure in the State of Maryland. The Creativity Grant also provides opportunities to serve the growing needs of relevant arts projects and collaborations within Maryland communities. Artist/Writers: Cover Art for Academic Medicine

Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. The Awesome Foundation Accepting Applications for Art Projects

Deadline: Open. The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences is a worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of “awesomeness in the universe.” Established in 2009, the foundation distributes $1,000 grants on a monthly basis to projects and their creators. The money is pooled from ten or more self-organizing “micro-trustees.” The chapters are autonomous and organized by the trustees around geographic areas or topics of interest. Call for Artists: Maryland Art Place Seeks Proposals for Rotating Exhibition Partnership with Baltimore’s Hotel Indigo (MD)

Deadline: rolling. Maryland Art Place (MAP), in partnership with Hotel Indigo is pleased to announce an open ‘Call to Artists’. As an extension of MAP’s annual IMPACT public art partnership projects, MAP is working with Hotel Indigo to offer rotating exhibitions in Hotel indigo’s library and Poets Modern Cocktails and Eats. This opportunity is available to visual artists living or working in Maryland. Maryland Art Place will curate four exhibitions a year based on submissions entered through a rolling basis. Peripheral ARTeries – Biennial Contemporary Art Publication

Deadline: Rolling. Peripheral ARTeries is looking for artists to be featured in the new special Biennial Edition of their art publication, that comes to its 10th edition. This opportunity is great for both established and early career artists who need a boost to their artist portfolio. The 10th edition will once again explore and show current trends and tendencies in Contemporary Art: Peripheral ARTeries cultivates a spirit of openness through a unique collaborative and participatory approach.Each artist may submit a maximum of three works or projects made in any technique: painting, drawing, video art, experimental cinema, fine art photography, experimental media, mixed media, installations, public art, performance. Exhibit at Hotel Indigo (VA)

Artists works will displayed in the hotel’s gallery (220 S Union St, Old Town Alexandria) for a six-month period. Two-dimensional, framed works only. Artists will install the work using the hotel’s mounting hardware. Labels will be provided by the hotel. All sales handled by artist, no commission. The New Project Studio – Ongoing Opportunity (VA)

Located in Studio 8, the New Project Studio is a community-focused arts incubator space that offers a short-term location to test new program ideas, spotlight underrepresented voices, and enhance community engagement. Looking for artists: Foundry Gallery (DC)

Deadline: ongoing. Foundry Gallery is seeking a few artists in the greater Washington, DC area. The oldest cooperative in Washington, the gallery holds monthly solo and members’ group shows at its beautiful space north of Shaw near the 9:30 Club.

 

 

Looking for artists: Printmakers (DC)

Deadline: ongoing. Washington Printmakers Gallery is seeking artist members specializing in printmaking, photography and book arts. An active cooperative for over 30 years, the gallery holds monthly solo and members’ group shows in its lovely space in upper Georgetown. Distant and shared memberships are available.
