Viz Media and Landmark Cinemas are giving Bleach fans a chance to check out the beginning of the anime’s final arc on the big screen in Canada this month. Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity offers the first three episodes of the new season prior to its broadcast in July. The anime is part of an ongoing adaptation of Tite Kubo’s 2001-2016 Shonen Jump manga of the same name that originally ran between 2004 and 2012 before being revived 2022. This marks the franchise’s second major theatrical release in Canada, as the original film, Bleach: Memories of Nobody, received a limited Canadian cinema release in October 2008.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity was directed by Tomohisa Taguchi and Hikaru Murata at Pierrot Films. Shirō Sagisu composed the score. The screenings will also feature an exclusive behind‑the‑scenes conversation with creator Kubo, chief series director Taguchi and series director Murata about the production.

The death of the Soul King mirrors the collapse of the Three Worlds, as distortions and omens of destruction start to appear in all realms.
The Thirteen Court Guard Squads join forces with the surviving Quincies and head for the Royal Palace, but it’s fallen under the control of the Wandenreich, who have transformed it into the Wahr Welt. The Royal Guard wait for them within the castle, ominously towering against the sky.
