A step below the Glorious Citizen models were the Citizen Highness range, that was also introduced in 1971. These models utilized high beat, 36,000bph movements, that differentiated the Highness from the existing Chrono Master range that were similarly priced but operated at lower frequencies.
The initial Highness models came in two variants, a day/date model that utilized the 7730 calibre, and the day only models that used the 7430 calibre. The 7730 calibre has an interesting calendar setting procedure with the date set by pressing the center of the crown when the watch is held upright. The day is set by pushing the crown when the watch is turned so that the 12 o’clock marker is facing down. If set when worn, the date is set with the wrist rolled towards the user elevating the 12 o’clock position, and the day set when the wrist is rolled away from the body elevating the 6 o’clock position. The date on the 7430 calibre is set via the normal method with the crown at the first position.
