Katherine Beck is one of Australia’s most in demand US accent coaches…AND SAC HAS LOCKED HER IN!

With American productions increasingly choosing Australia as their filming destination, Australian actors are finding themselves auditioning directly against a very specific demand: the American accent.
More and more, roles in these US-backed productions require local talent to sound convincingly American, and a hesitant or inconsistent accent can be the deciding factor between landing the job and losing it to someone better prepared.
The competition is fierce, the stakes are real, and directors don’t have time on set to work around an accent that isn’t there. That’s why getting ahead of the game — training your American accent now, before the audition comes — is one of the smartest investments an Australian actor can make.
This 4 week Sydney Actors Collective workshop with KATHERINE BECK, will give you the tools, the muscle memory, and the confidence to start owning that accent
DETAILS
Date: July 12th, 19th, 26th and August 2nd
Time: 3pm to 5pm EST
Venue: Online. All sessions will be recorded for each actor.
Cost: $350
PLACES STRICTLY LIMITED to 8
OPEN TO PROFESSIONAL ACTORS ONLY. ACTORS MAY NEED TO SUBMIT THEIR CREDENTIALS TO JOIN.
Each actor will be given a scene to memorize prior to class with another scene partner.
Actors are expected to be lines down.
In class you will perform the scene with your scene partner. In performance mode Katherine will truly understand how your accent works under performance pressure.
You will then work with Katherine to hone and develop your accent, focusing on problem areas.
The SAC US accent workshop will intentionally test your accent under pressure. It is easy to nail the accent in rehearsal, but when the camera turns on and the emotions start to pour, that is when the cracks in the accent can be heard.
This SAC course addresses that issue head on by workshopping your accent in real performance time. The training is how to not be focusing on the accent, to be fully in your character and the accent sounds perfect.
Aussie actors have a great reputation for nailing the US accent. Make sure you are sitting in that pile when you tape.

Alexandra Park (Everybody Is Doing Great, The Royals, Ben Is Back, 12 Feet Deep)
I now understand the American accent, feel confident speaking in the accent and have been taught effective strategies to break down scripts in a pushed time frame and can therefore deliver the best possible performance.

Mavournee Hazel (NCIS Sydney)
I sought out Katherine to help me develop a 1950s Brooklyn accent, and what I received was so much more than technical guidance. She creates a space that feels safe, imaginative, and free, which is essential when doing work that can feel quite vulnerable! She made the whole process playful and empowering. I walked away with tangible tools for the dialect and, more importantly, a deepened confidence in myself as an actor.

Rick Cosnett (The Flash, Quantico, The Vampire Diaries, Palm Royale)
Katherine’s instincts, guidance and practical steps are spot on to really helping you grow and achieve exactly what you want and need. The detail and gems she gave me helped not only my accent to sound completely authentic but also helped my performance.

William Moseley (Chronicles of Narnia, On The Line, Land of Dreams, Penciltown, Hit Piece)
I’ve worked with a lot of dialect coaches in LA, including some of the very top people and I didn’t feel they were truly invested in helping me. Working with Katherine was completely different. She broke everything down for me: mouth placement, diphthongs, back, front, mid vowels and the rhythm. Suddenly it all started to make sense. For the first time I felt there was a clear process that actually worked for me.
