When Ewura Adams first joined a Center for Artistic Activism training in Senegal, he was already an experienced theater artist and changemaker working on urgent environmental issues in Ghana.
But that training, centered on anti-corruption and non-traditional approaches, prompted entirely new ways of thinking.
After that experience, Ewura returned to Ghana and applied what he learned to one of the country’s most pressing issues: illegal mining and its devastating environmental consequences.
He used poetic art pieces to spark conversations, online and in person. His work didn’t just raise awareness. It changed the way people engaged with the issue.
And he didn’t stop there.
Ewura received a grant to train 30 other activists in C4AA’s methods, and he now integrates these practices into his theater lectures at the University of Ghana, ensuring the impact continues far beyond his own work.
