CAIR-Chicago’s Outreach Coordinator, Taqio Rahman, joined the Muslim Civic Coalition’s road trip to visit the grave of Muhammad Ali in Louisville, Kentucky. The group learned about Muhammad Ali’s legacy and why it’s much bigger than being the world’s greatest boxer. He was a brave, actionable movement leader who lead by example, and relinquished many worldy treasures in order to stand on what he believed was right. Muhammad Ali’s anti war advocacy sent him to jail at the height of his career, yet he never gave up his values.
“Being here in Kentucky, driving on the highway from Chicago, this is America! This is what it’s about. And visiting the gravesite of a true American hero Muhammad Ali brings me so much closer to the history of this country” – Taqio Rahman, Outreach Coordinator, CAIR-Chicago
