Capital One, Content Creators Settle Affiliate Marketing Dispute

Capital One Financial Corp. and a group of content creators won a federal judge’s approval for a deal resolving claims that the financial service company’s browser extension diverted affiliate marketing commissions.

The settlement will provide content creators compensation as well as require Capital One to implement and maintain certain business practice changes to guarantee the browser extension doesn’t cut into affiliate marketers’ commissions. Judge Anthony J. Trenga of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia granted final approval earlier this week and entered the order Thursday.
