Pastor Emmanuel Iren has encouraged singles and married couples not to allow negative stories about relationships to convince them that healthy marriages no longer exist.
“Good marriages still exist, and your own will be one of them,” he said.
Iren shared the story of an elderly couple whose affection remained visible even into old age. According to him, they dressed alike, attended church together and continued doing life closely until the husband died in his 90s.
He also reflected on his own marriage, describing moments when he had overworked himself in ministry and became physically weak.
During those times, he said his wife cared for him closely, even feeding him when he was too weak to care for himself.
“She would nurse me. I would be rejuvenated. I would come back on the stage roaring,” he said.
Iren then used the illustration of air travel to make his point.
He noted that thousands of planes land safely without making the news, while a single crash quickly becomes a major story.
In the same way, he said the constant visibility of broken marriages does not mean strong marriages are absent.
“Don’t let anyone misrepresenting love, misrepresenting kingdom family, give you a bad impression,” he said.
His message was simple: bad examples may be louder, but they are not the only examples. Healthy, loving and enduring marriages still exist.
