Groundforce Staff’s Indefinite Strike Begins At Barcelona (BCN) Airport On August 4, 2026

Groundforce, a ground handling company that serves airlines such as Lufthansa Group, Turkish Airlines, United, Qatar Airways, Finnair, and many others at Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN), has a staff of roughly 1,200 employees who are going on an indefinite strike on August 4, 2026.

The Groundforce strike affects more than 2 million passengers scheduled to fly with the airlines they handle in Barcelona between August and September.

The strike won’t bring all operations to a complete halt, as the government has set the minimum required standard that Groundforce must meet when this strike begins, depending on the flight type, between 35% and 80%.

Groundforce provides ground assistance, including luggage handling, check-in, boarding, and flight coordination, on behalf of airlines.

Conclusion

This will get really ugly really fast, and airlines using Groundforce for ground handling at Barcelona El Prat Airport must start canceling flights, as there aren’t enough employees to handle them.

Also, there is often already an excessive wait for the checked luggage to arrive, and now it might take even longer.
