KLM Short-Haul Buy-on-Board Pre-Order Meals Now Live For Flights On Of After October 25, 2026
KLM has been running several buy-on-board trials on various longer short-haul flights for several months, and these changes will go live network-wide at the start of the IATA 2026 Winter Season on October 25, 2026.
We have posted images of the test buy-on-board menus previously (you can find them below), and KLM has now enabled pre-ordering three meal options from October 25, and they are all grossly overpriced.

I was making a test booking for KLM’s one of the longer short-haul routes from Amsterdam to Athens.
There appear to be text-parsing issues with KLM’s website, as it keeps displaying random text/code.

KLM Pre-Order Paid Meals From October 25, 2026:
Classic Caesar Salad $14.30

KLM’s Buy-on-Board Menu April 2026
Here’s a menu that a friend of mine had on a KLM flight from Helsinki in April.
I have a KLM flight coming exactly in two weeks, so I can provide an update if the AMS-VCE flight has one.
KLM Short-Haul Business Class “Prison” Box Meals:
KLM doesn’t plan to update these paper box meals they serve in short-haul business, which are an utter disgrace.

Conclusion
I doubt there is much uptake of these pre-order paid meals in the European market, and perhaps that’s why the pricing is so ridiculous.
They don’t want anyone ordering them? But why then launch them in the first place? I am truly baffled by this.
Platinum and Ultimate members are still eligible for a free drink and snack, likely from the buy-on-board menu, since these pre-order “meals” are significantly more expensive.
