Reading this yesterday suddenly took me back to 1972 or thereabouts and apologies, for I fear I’ve bored you elsewhere on PPRuNe with this brief narration, but in case I haven’t……….
"Oh Dougie ! I forgot to mention it but Fokkers were asking about a Livery. See what you can come up with." At the time Dougie Brown and I were clambering aboard the Dakota when Wilbur Wright, breathless and florid charged towards the foot of the steps with this parting shot.
Now safely airborne from Norwich and outward bound for Schiphol over a cold and grey North Sea, Dougie who was on this occasion a passenger, lit up a Rothmans, withdrew a pen from his jacket and gathered a Sick Bag from the seat pocket.
By the time he had finished his fag Air Anglia’s new Livery was on rather than in the bag so to speak.
We were given a splendid day by Fokkers as minor bits and pieces about the introduction of the F-27 on to Air Anglia’s AOC were sorted out, before lunch and a tour of the Factory. If the management at Fokkers were taken aback at being presented with Air Anglia’s Livery on the back of a sick bag they were far too polite to even raise an eyebrow.

Air Anglia’s first F27, initially with Dutch Registration and two Dutch Training Captains arrived Norwich late Autumn 1972. (FIL – I’m guessing for Phillip ‘Spud’ Murphy AQ Chief Pilot).
