Estrella Damm, the beer of Barcelona, unveils latest ATL campaign, evoking the magic of the 1970s, in Summer ‘78. Running across a fully integrated media mixfrom 17th May-4th July 2025, the campaign is set to seventies smash-hit “Yes, Sir, I can Boogie”. Featuring a modern rendition of the legendary disco anthem, performed exclusively for Estrella Damm by British singer-songwriter, Debbie.
The campaign lands just in time for the warmer months, bringing with it balmy beach days, BBQs, sunset drinks, and the perfect time to get together with friends to enjoy the beer of the summer, Estrella Damm. With feel-good factor, the ATL evokes the epitome of summer vibes, putting the Mediterranean lager at the heart of those special moments. Loved for over 140 years, and still using the original 1876 recipe, Estrella Damm is perfectly placed to share such a nostalgic creation.
The narrative is rooted in the idea that “no matter what changes, may what matters never change.” Telling the story of María, a young woman who discovers a box of photographs belonging to her late grandmother. Among them is a collection from the summer of 1978, inspiring her to retrace her grandmother’s footsteps along the Mediterranean coast. What unfolds is a parallel journey through time, blending past and present as both women experience the summer of their lives—filled with beaches, late-night dancing, meaningful encounters, and unforgettable memories.
Produced by a creative team who have long standing Estrella Damm credits, the campaign concept comes from was Oriol Villar, long-time creator of the brand’s Mediterráneamente platform and directed by Claudia Llosa, who previously helmed Estrella Damm campaigns in 2012 (It’s not what, it’s how), 2014 (Train your soul), and 2018 (Cyrano). With Cinematography by Erik Messerschmidt, Oscar-winning Director of Photography for Mank (2020).
The choice of song is the epitome of 1970s summertime, a record breaking hit which revolutionised the music scene of the era, “Yes, Sir, I Can Boogie, which topped the music charts of Europe, the United States and Mexico. The updated version by Debbie is available on all major streaming platforms as part of the campaign.
