We are still in the middle of sweltering heat, yet would you believe there have already been sightings of hiyaoroshi sake around town? It seems the seasonal lines are continually blurring. But let’s be honest, does it really matter?
For sure, light and floral releases in spring are great, and the low-alcohol summer spritzy styles are a welcome relief from the heat. However, a number of events around town promoting the enjoyment of kanzake (warm sake) in these stifling summer months suggest there are a few trend contrarians out there.
And to be fair, it’s a good idea to mix things up. After all, you never know what kind of new discovery you might stumble across if you step outside the boundaries of seasonal trends and challenge your taste preferences.
For now, there’s still plenty of summer sake out there we need to get through, so let’s get to it – and maybe even try some warmed up!
And now here’s the news…
Toyama- The Nanto Sake Rice Summit 2025 once again united sake rice producers with brewers and retailers from within and beyond Toyama Prefecture. The event, held on July 17 in the Johana-Iguchi area and at the Johana-za Traditional Performing Arts Center in Nanto City, marked its 29th year, drawing 160 participants, including 40 sake breweries and retail businesses.
