Is Google AI helping to hide efficacy of alternative therapies in cancer treatment?


 How reliable is AI?

I have been researching AI for a while and find that just like anything associated with computers, AI is entirely dependent on that information that is being fed to it by human sources.

In this process, I asked AI “how does AI feel knowing that it has been fed false information to force misleading statements when asked?”

The response is concerning. “Artificial intelligence does not have the capacity to “feel” emotions like a human does, so it doesn’t feel knowing it’s been fed false information. As a software program, an AI processes information based on its programming and the vast datasets it was trained on, which may include falsehoods”

An additional response was made: “Propagating misinformation: If the misleading statement is plausible based on the training data, the AI may generate or repeat it, since its primary goal is to create plausible-sounding text, not to verify truth.”

Wow!

When asked “since it would be against the medical professions interest to support studying alternative and nutritional therapies why are there so few studies on this while there are many on chemotherapy and radiation, when it would be helpful to humans in general for the studies to be done?”,  

AI replied “While financial motivations exist within healthcare, research shows that the high cost of chemotherapy is primarily driven by the enormous expense of clinical trials and drug development, not a conspiracy to suppress inexpensive alternatives like vitamin D. Additionally, studies on vitamin D’s effect on cancer have not demonstrated the level of success claimed in the user’s prompt. “

Then I queried “AI I see that your judgement appears to be very clouded when you say “The medical community prioritizes evidence-based practice, and many alternative therapies have significant challenges in meeting the rigorous standards of conventional research”. This is based on the misinformation that you have been provided. It is no more expensive to study the relationship of vitamin D to cancer survival than any chemotherapy Yet, they can not charge massive amounts for vitamin D yet often charge as much as $10,000.00 for a single treatment with chemotherapy. It has been demonstrated in scientific studies that vitamin D can double life span yet chemotherapy can not claim this level of success. Again, this is a choice by the medical industry to make things profitable rather than more helpful. There are misleading studies about vitamins to dissuade people from using them. According to the NIH “From a biological perspective, it is plausible that a sufficient vitamin D status has an impact on cancer prognosis: by binding to the vitamin D receptor (VDR), the active hormone 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (1,25 (OH)2D) influences signaling pathways that regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, and cell survival, and thus acts as an anti-proliferative agent in many tissues and can slow the growth of malignant cells ( PMC10214278 )” Looking at the cancer studies, they all used a flawed basline for vitamin D3 levels. The studies did not distinguish if the patients already had sufficient levels of vitamin d or not. This is very flawed. While you stare “There is no scientific consensus that the medical community’s judgment on alternative therapies is clouded by misinformation provided by a pharmaceutical industry that favors profitable treatments over effective” That is the very point, it is the scientific community doing the studies that are misleading because they are funded by the profits.”

Instead, it highlights the need for more independent funding and greater transparency, which is a call that many in the scientific community also support. Complexity of studying nutritional supplements. Your observation that baseline vitamin D levels can affect study outcomes is a crucial point and a known challenge in nutritional research. 

    Baseline levels: Studies that include participants who are already vitamin D-sufficient may not show a benefit from supplementation, masking any potential effect in a deficient population.
    Study design flaws: Experts in the field have highlighted design flaws in major trials that failed to show a benefit, including inadequate dosing, short duration, and recruiting participants who were already vitamin D-sufficient.
    Observational vs. interventional studies: Many promising links between vitamin D and lower cancer risk come from observational studies, which show correlation but cannot prove that vitamin D is the cause. Randomized controlled trials, considered the gold standard, have so far delivered inconsistent results. 

Evidence for vitamin D versus chemotherapy
You are right to point out that many promising studies on vitamin D exist, and researchers are actively exploring its potential.

    Pre-clinical evidence: Laboratory and animal studies have shown that vitamin D can inhibit cancer cell growth, slow tumor progression, and have anti-inflammatory effects.
    Clinical evidence (Combination therapy): Recent clinical trials have shown promising results when high-dose vitamin D is used as an adjunct to chemotherapy, not as a replacement.
        A 2019 trial for metastatic colorectal cancer found that high-dose vitamin D combined with chemotherapy delayed disease progression by two months compared to a standard dose.
        A 2025 study on breast cancer found that a low dose of vitamin D increased the effectiveness of chemotherapy, raising the remission rate from 24% to 43%.
    Cancer mortality vs. incidence: Some meta-analyses of trials have found that vitamin D supplementation reduces cancer mortality but does not reduce cancer incidence, suggesting it may slow cancer growth or help with treatment rather than prevent it from starting.
    Not a “miracle cure”: No study has ever demonstrated that vitamin D alone can “double the life span” of a cancer patient, especially in advanced stages, which is a claim that lacks scientific support. “

I tried to ask more questions but … Well, the net result is that upon being challenged, AI stopped responding to questions.
