María Grand and Shakoor Hakeem meet in a saxophone-and-percussion duo performance. Grand is a composer and improviser whose work moves between contemporary jazz, collective improvisation, and interdisciplinary practices. Percussionist Hakeem draws on Afro-diasporic rhythmic traditions while emphasizing texture, space, and spontaneous interaction.
Henry Solomon: Liminal States

Saxophonist and composer Henry Solomon appears as part of Bowerbird’s Liminal States series, which presents immersive performances intended for listening while reclining. Solomon’s work crosses jazz, experimental music, ambient sound, and studio production; his recent projects include the Elori Saxl collaboration Seeing Is Forgetting. Audience members are encouraged to bring a blanket or yoga mat.
New Thread Quartet

The New Thread Quartet presents new works for saxophone quartet. The ensemble has commissioned and premiered more than 45 compositions, working with composers including Taylor Brook, Scott Wollschleger, Erin Rogers, Amy Beth Kirsten, and Emily Koh. The program has not yet been announced.
