I love these little small-system ambient videos. What appears to be just seven independent synthesizer modules — plus an ornate blank — gathered in a tiny case, the signals doing their thing, finding their way, a few sources, a smattering of processing, a bit of sequencing, and in turn something lifelike, lively even, emerges, percussive sounds shuddering in a misty chasm. There is, we’re informed by the musician — who goes by he_nu_ri, based on the central California coast — some off-screen activity, too, some substantive reverb added, on a computer, at the end of the signal chain in some digital audio workstation software.
