Bewildering world of sounds and rhythms. American Birthstone is a composition of sample wrangling and loop twirling. Aural memories quickly distort as those treasured feel good moments are mutated into what can never be unheard. The track titles are just as poignant, like “I Like to Snork My Hashes (#)” and “Thought a Dog Was Fire”. As a listener, American Birthstone is genius gubbins and a feast of fresh takes. Even though this is the 10th Anniversary Edition of a cassette release by the label Suite 309. The newest version for this description is the Bumpy Records edition on compact disc. I actually think these type of sounds might be a better fit for compact disc. Not that tapes cant handle the pace, just maybe many of the machines playing them.
The artist getting tenth anniversary love is Used Condo, a tangent project of Adam Wish-Werven, also “Larry Wish”. Compact discs are in an edition of one hundred. Bumpy and Larry Wish are well entwined. The label releasing both new and rereleases from past labels. The Larry Wish discography is pretty astounding and the paths of Lost in a Sea of Sound and Adam Wish-Werven have never crossed…. Until now and it has been a pleasure. Thank you.
