Het Vrije Westen
On May 5th, Westerpark transforms into a buzzing festival spot during Het Vrije Westen. Expect live music, street theater, food trucks, and creative pop-up acts for young and old. S10 is this year’s Ambassador of Freedom and will perform. The entire festival is free to attend, making it a perfect way to celebrate freedom in a relaxed manner with friends or the whole family.

Freedom Lunch at Pllek
Pllek is organizing a special three-course Freedom Lunch on their terrace by the IJ. You’ll enjoy the traditional Freedom Soup, but also an exhibition, music, and a brass band parade as part of the program. Children can join in crafting freedom birds, and the day symbolically ends with the lighting of the Freedom Fire.

LIBERATION DAY = Boogie House Festival!
Celebrate Liberation Day dancing at Mossel & Gin in Westerpark during the Boogie House Festival. DJs will be spinning the best mixes all day on the inflatable outdoor stage. Expect a relaxed vibe, great people, and ice-cold drinks & snacks from Mossel & Gin. Entrance is free!

Concert on the Amstel
On May 5th, a huge floating stage will be set up near Carré, where the grand finale of Liberation Day Amsterdam will take place. All music genres will be featured.

Artis During WWII
From April 27th to May 5th, Artis organizes extra special tours. Did you know that Artis sheltered people in hiding, both resistance fighters and Jews? During the tour, you’ll learn not only about the people in hiding and how Artis helped them but also how the animals survived the war.

Party at the Homomonument
From 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, the Homomonument is the place to go for a lively dance party. The Homomonument Foundation is run entirely by volunteers, who receive a small compensation from the bar proceeds. Any profits go to the LGBTQIA+ community.
