Not too much going on these past two episodes, but it would be an understatement to say there are signs of a storm coming.
Episode 6
It was kind of hilarious to see Mizuki finally realizing just how utterly careless and reckless she has been. But now thanks to that, it’s in her head that Izumi knows (and yes girl, he does and has for a long time now)!
Julia has made up her mind to confront Izumi about Mizuki, even just spoke straight with him knowing that he knew the truth that Mizuki is a girl. However the first time round, Izumi decided to feign ignorance by bluffing that he couldn’t quite understand what she was saying. But the second time, instead it was Izumi who had decided to seek Julia out, and on his terms reveal he has known Mizuki’s a girl since the beginning.
I don’t know why Julia thought it was a good idea, much less productive to be speaking to Izumi in this formal chivalry language, but the guy (justifiably) didn’t have the patience to stand around and listen to her go on and on about how stressful and stupid of an idea it was for Mizuki to do all of this. I laughed so hard when he just started walking away in the middle of it all because that was such a real moment there, hahaha. At least Izumi gave her a straight answer: He’s in love with Mitzuki, so he’s determined to keep it a secret so they can continue to be together for as long as possible. Really, that’s all she had to do, just ask him that, plain and simple.
Mizuki spotting Shin and then choosing to confront him wasn’t exactly the brightest ideas of all things. While it was fun to finally see her actually put what she has learned from Judo into practice, unfortunately he still got away by smacking dirt in her face. Obviously that part was impossible to predict, but honestly I think she would’ve had better luck simply chasing him down until he ran out of breath. I doubt he’d be able to outrun her, since that’s her specialty. And not to mention, it would’ve been hilarious to watch!
But on the flip-side, it’s a good thing that Shin had come to seek Izumi out. This is a better outcome than being MIA considering their step-mother has called Izumi to inform him that Shin had run away from home. So it’d be an understatement to say, this ought to be the better scenario.
Episode 7
Future headaches are definitely in development. A viral photo has cause a real problem for Izumi, Nakatsu and Minami. Girls from all over have been swarming their school to get a look and meet them– to the point apparently they are even sneaking onto campus, GEEZ! No thanks to that, it drew the scrutiny of the unwanted attention from the most problematic and potentially consequential is a new teacher who’s best described as one with a stick up up his ass. Since he got there, word has spread quickly of how notoriously picks on students over the slightest things. The stupidest thing he did today was calling Minami, Izumi and Nakatsu to the counselling room to blame them for all the girls crowding at the school gate. (Gee I don’t know, maybe you sir can get of your ass and chase them off? You are a teacher, it is your responsibility to keep unwanted visitors away from campus is it not?) Anyhow, it’s not like the boys were the one responsible for this nonsense anyways. The blame lies in fault of the girl at Rio’s school, who had uploaded the picture she had taken of the boys without their permission. Unfortunately because of their good looks, they went viral and now they have a swarm of infatuated fangirls stalking them. Utterly unpleasant and incredibly exhausting, especially for Izumi and Nakatsu who are both respectively trying to focus hard on practising and performing well in order to make the starting line ups, but I digress.
As if that wasn’t enough as it is, this teacher abused the opportunity to bully Nakatsu, from pulling his hair, chiding him over his hair colour— despite the fact their school has no rules against dyeing their hair in their dress-code. In the end, Minami was the one who stepped up to the plate to shoulder the responsible of handling the pesky girls, but it goes without saying this guy will use an opportunity to attack them again in the future. I worry for Mizuki since if there’s anyone who’s going to lead the charge of expelling her from the school, it’s probably going to be this guy.
On top of that, with the amount of unwanted attention that has been drawn, we were introduced to another new and potentially problematic character, Hara Akara is a professional photographer who first came across Mizuki, groped her and immediately sought her out to model for him. I do have suspicions that he already knows she’s a girl, so we’ll have to see how things will pan out. He had also been seeking out Izumi, Nakatsu and Minami to be models for his shoot as well, but naturally Izumi and Nakatsu have more important things to think about right now, so they immediately refused. Minami on the other hand, is certainly more open to it.
With everything that has transpired in this episode, it was easy to forget what came about with Shin. In the end, it was merely swept under the rug. He and Izumi never got to speak to each other, and Shin had called back to inform their step-mother that he’d be returning home, and that he had only come to check out Izumi’s school.
And finally, last but not least Julia! Her time in Japan has come to an end, and departed literally the day after she had just told Mizuki she’d be going back home to the States again. At the very least, she’s able to go back with the peace of mind knowing that Mizuki’s surrounded by really nice people who are looking out for her. It’s also probably comforting to know that Izumi’s not only he’s a super nice guy, but he genuinely cares about Mizuki and is in love with her.
And Nakatsu? Well, she did try to say farewell politely for an exchange, but it ended up being a cat and dog fight as per usual with these two. Oh and Minami… Well she never cared about him to begin with, so no goodbyes for him. (Though he won’t say it, the guy’s in delulu land trying to cope with it.)
And finally last but not least, we’ve gotten confirmation at this point that Mizuki’s 100% aware that she’s in love with Izumi. She’s definitely starting to catch onto the possibility that her feelings are mutual with the way Izumi’s not shy by the slightest when it comes to skinship between the two of them. He likes being dotted on by her, and encourages it. It was also actually really cute how Izumi felt a little guilty that he wasn’t disclosing he and Julia had spoken with each other.
Next time, looks like despite their initial refusal, Izumi and Nakatsu will be dragged into doing the photo-shoot in the end with Mizuki and Minami.
