“Nobody’s Boy Remi” Blu-ray Release Announced – Animation Scoop

ANIME TRAILER: “Nobody’s Boy Remi” Blu-ray Release Announced

Fans of classic anime have something to look forward to this spring, as AnimEigo, in partnership with their parent company MediaOCD, is bringing Nobody’s Boy Remi to Blu-ray on May 11. This special series makes history as the first anime to be made available in both 3D and high definition, featuring all 51 episodes from the director Osamu Dezaki.

As a tribute to the broadcaster Nippon TV’s 25th anniversary, director Osamu Dezaki and animation studio TMS Entertainment teamed up to bring to life Nobody’s Boy Remi as a full-length, year-long series fully in 3D, a feat that had never been accomplished by any country before. Although compatible 3D glasses have been provided in each Blu-ray copy, fans are welcome to choose their preferred experience as the series can also be enjoyed entirely in 2D.

The Nobody’s Boy Remi Blu-ray includes 51 episodes spread across 4 discs, French dub, English subtitles, the latest U.S trailer, and 3D glasses for optional 3D viewing.  The series makes use of the Pulrich Effect to accomplish its 3D presentation, a less widely used technique that creates the illusion of depth when objects are moved horizontally. Television greatly benefits from this technique due to its accessibility, as there’s no special equipment needed and it’s applicable to nearly all video mediums. Without the use of 3D glasses, though, the video appears normally in 2D. The Pulrich Effect can also be found in certain episodes of Doctor Who, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Yo! Yogi, and the Super Bowl XXIII Halftime Show from 1989.

Synopsis

Living in the countryside of France with his mother and cow companion, Remi was always joyful young boy. That is, until his father returned home. His cheerful childhood abruptly came to an end as Remi discovered that he was adopted all along, and soon after finds himself sold to a street performer by his own father. Now forced to travel across the country with the grizzled Vitalis and his circus of dogs and monkeys, Remi’s hardships are only the beginning to a series of misfortunes.
