Disney has released the official trailer and key art and some image for Season 5 of Big City Greens that boast a guest cast led by Stephen King, Luke Combs, Dylan Sprouse, Megan Stalter, Chad Michael Murray, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. The comedy premieres August 21 on Disney Channel with the first five episodes at 8 p.m. EDT/PDT, streaming on Disney+ the following day.

King, the famous horror novelist, turns up in a Halloween-themed episode and Stalter, the Hacks comic, in a winter-themed one. Combs is a country music star; Sprouse came up on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody; Murray on One Tree Hill; and Smith and Mewes have been making films together since Clerks. Joining them are Cobie Smulders and Clark Gregg (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Matt Gourley, Sona Movsesian and Aaron Bleyaert of the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, Martha Kelly (Euphoria), Steve Schirripa (The Sopranos) and Mike Colter (Marvel’s Luke Cage). Episodes roll out across the rest of 2026 and into 2027.
Returning guest voices include Danny Trejo as Vasquez, Alfred Molina as Cogburn, Jameela Jamil as Phoenix, Colin Hanks as Mark and Dan Stevens as Saxon. Leading the regular cast, Chris Houghton voices Cricket Green, with Marieve Herington as sister Tilly, Bob Joles as father Bill, Artemis Pebdani as Gramma Alice, Wendi McLendon-Covey as mother Nancy, Zeno Robinson as Cricket’s friend Remy and Anna Akana as Gloria.
The show follows 10-year-old Cricket, a country kid who lands in the big city with a family that fits there badly. Brothers Chris and Shane Houghton created it and executive produce. Anna O’Brian, who directed Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation, is an executive producer; Stephen Sandoval (The Owl House) is co-executive producer and Michael Coughlin (The Muppets) produces. Disney Television Animation produces the series.
The Emmy-winning series premiered in June 2018 and reached Episode 100 in Season 4, a milestone the Houghtons discussed with AWN in 2023. Disney calls it its longest continuously running animated series and puts lifetime viewing at more than four billion hours across linear and streaming, plus nearly a billion views on Disney-owned YouTube. Disney also cites Nielsen data ranking it a top 10 most-watched kids animated series in streaming among ages six to 11 this year, a category that excludes preschool and adult animation.
