Ginger Root and Luna Goami to Release Theme Songs for Kyoto Animation’s New Anime Sparks of Tomorrow

Sometimes reality surpasses our dreams. That is exactly how I felt when I was chosen to perform the opening theme for Kyoto Animation, a studio I deeply love.
I immersed myself in the background materials and the script, letting Hitomi Koto’s soundscapes and the director’s vision guide my creative process. The song itself is vibrant and wondrous, yet driven by a powerful momentum. Keeping the core themes of “belief” and “doubt” in mind, I strolled through the streets of Kyoto to find the right words to capture this unique universe. The moment the invented phrase “Eureka Evrika” came to me, it felt like a literal lightbulb switching on in my mind.
This is a story of rebirth and the sparkle of life. Because I was pregnant during the production, there were challenging moments, but it filled me with a profound happiness that I poured entirely into the track. I can’t wait to share this music and story with everyone!

The day is finally here for everyone to hear my very first anime ending theme! Words can’t describe how incredible it feels to take this on. As a massive otaku myself, I still can’t quite believe I got to make a real anime song!
The title of the track is “Soarin’.” Flying through the sky is something regular humans can’t actually do, right? But if you push yourself as hard as you can, don’t you feel like it’s within reach? Inspired by the themes of the anime, I chose this title to capture that exact feeling: if you chase your dreams, absolutely anything is possible!
I’m just as excited as all of you to watch the premiere!

Luna Goami Profile
A versatile singer and lyricist celebrated for her expressive vocal range in film scores and insert songs. Her work, including lyric and vocal contributions to titles such as the anime The Apothecary Diaries and Mr. Osomatsu and the hit Japanese drama Dearest, has attracted attention, particularly for her distinctive singing voice.
Described as possessing a voice that blends pristine clarity with a thrilling edge, her signature style includes melodic improvisation and singing in fictional languages. Because of this unique range, composers and creators highly praise her ability to completely capture and embody the world of any project she works on.
Her theatrical repertoire includes vocal performances for stage music productions such as Demon Slayer and Shoujo YoRHa (set in the world of NieR:Automata).
In 2021, her work on the theme song and score for Hide & Sniff earned a nomination for Best Original Score at the Nice International Film Festival in France. While personally handling everything from songwriting to design work, she continues to constantly explore and push the boundaries of vocal expression.

Ginger Root Profile
Ginger Root is a solo project by Cameron Lew, a Southern California-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter, and visual artist.
He launched the project in earnest in 2017 during his college years, making waves with a distinct sound described as “aggressive elevator soul” and gaining traction through popular cover videos on YouTube. Handling everything from songwriting and recording to mixing and mastering himself, Lew also draws on his film-school background to craft all of his own art and music videos from scratch. He released his debut album Mahjong Room in 2018, followed by Rikki in 2020, and the Japanese culture-inspired EP City Slicker in 2021.
Ginger Root’s popularity has skyrocketed in Japan, where his four-show tour in January 2023 completely sold out. Proving his massive draw, he followed it up with a massive six-date Zepp tour across Japan in support of his latest album, SHINBANGUMI.
