Marvel’s VisionQuest Sets October Premiere as Vision Returns for a New Sci-Fi Story

Marvel Studios is preparing to return to one of the most unusual corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with VisionQuest, a new Disney+ series centered on Vision and his uncertain future after the events of WandaVision.

The series is scheduled to premiere on October 14, 2026, and will consist of eight episodes released weekly. Paul Bettany will reprise his role as Vision, with the story focusing on the White Vision introduced near the end of WandaVision.

White Vision’s search for his past

At the center of VisionQuest is White Vision, who was rebuilt without the memories of the original Vision. After regaining access to those memories but disappearing before reconnecting with Wanda, the character is left to confront questions about his identity and the life he once had.

The new series is expected to explore those questions in greater depth. Rather than simply continuing Vision’s physical journey, the story appears to examine his memories, consciousness and sense of identity.

That approach gives the series a strong science fiction focus, with concepts involving artificial intelligence, digital spaces and the nature of consciousness expected to play an important role.

The final chapter of a Marvel TV trilogy

VisionQuest is positioned as the third entry in a television storyline that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. The three series are connected through characters and themes surrounding Wanda Maximoff, Vision and the supernatural side of the MCU.

However, VisionQuest is expected to take a different direction. While WandaVision blended sitcom elements with superhero drama and Agatha All Along leaned heavily into magic and the supernatural, the new series is set to explore stranger science fiction territory.

Details about the plot remain limited, but promotional material suggests that parts of the story could unfold through Vision’s memories and perception. This could give the series a more unconventional visual and narrative style than a traditional Marvel production.

Ultron is returning

One of the biggest developments surrounding VisionQuest is the return of Ultron, the artificial intelligence antagonist from Avengers: Age of Ultron.

James Spader is expected to reprise the role, bringing the character back to the MCU more than a decade after his previous major appearance. The series is also expected to further examine the relationship between artificial intelligence and Vision, potentially giving Ultron a significant role in the story.

The connection is particularly important because Vision and Ultron share a complicated history. Vision was created using technology connected to Ultron, making the character’s return relevant to Vision’s own struggle with identity and memory.

Although the series is expected to focus heavily on Vision’s internal conflict, VisionQuest will not be limited to psychological and science fiction themes.

The production is also expected to feature larger action sequences, giving the series a balance between emotional storytelling and superhero spectacle. That combination could make Vision’s return especially significant for longtime MCU viewers who have followed the character since his introduction.

The series also arrives at an important point in Marvel’s broader Multiverse Saga, although the exact extent of its connection to upcoming MCU projects remains unclear.

When will VisionQuest premiere?

VisionQuest will premiere on Disney+ on October 14, 2026. The series will contain eight episodes, with a new episode arriving each week.

With Paul Bettany returning as Vision and James Spader coming back as Ultron, the series has the potential to revisit unresolved storylines from earlier MCU films and shows while taking the franchise into a more experimental science fiction setting.

For Marvel, VisionQuest represents more than another character spin-off. It brings Vision back to the forefront while exploring what remains of a character caught between humanity, artificial intelligence, memory and machine consciousness.
