A dramatic French animalier sculpture depicting two roosters locked in combat, their outstretched wings, sweeping tail feathers, and richly articulated plumage conveying remarkable energy and movement. The interlocking composition rests upon a moulded architectural base fashioned as a fragmentary ledge, its dark metallic surface accented by warm highlights, on top of a marble pedestal base.
