Apple hasn’t announced its next wave of hardware yet, but after the iPad mini, HomePod mini 2 and fourth-generation Apple TV 4K all appeared in leaked Apple code, the question is increasingly shifting from whether they’re coming to when Apple will actually release them.
All three products surfaced this week through files discovered in Apple’s own code. The findings included product imagery and direct references to unreleased hardware, making the devices considerably more concrete than the rumors that have surrounded them for much of the year.
The timing is particularly interesting because October is now only days away, and all three products had already been linked to launches before the end of 2026.
So when should we expect them?
The most likely answer is October, although there is still no confirmed date and Apple has not announced another event.
Apple has a long history of using October for its second major hardware wave of the fall. In 2021, its “Unleashed” event took place on October 18. In 2022, Apple announced new iPads and the third-generation Apple TV 4K through press releases on October 18. The “Scary Fast” Mac event followed on October 30, 2023.
More recently, Apple announced the A17 Pro iPad mini on October 15, 2024, followed by three consecutive days of Mac announcements from October 28 through October 30. In 2025, the M5 MacBook Pro, M5 iPad Pro and updated Vision Pro were announced on October 15.
There isn’t a fixed “Apple October event day,” but the pattern gives us a useful window. If Apple follows its recent schedule, the middle or latter half of October looks like the most realistic period for these products to be announced.
That would also fit with what we’ve been hearing about the new iPad mini.
Apple code discovered this week revealed the next iPad mini with an A20 Pro chip, alongside a landscape front camera and changes to the speaker arrangement.
The tablet is also expected to make the switch from LCD to OLED, with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously pointing toward a release by the end of October. If that remains Apple’s plan, the iPad mini gives us the clearest deadline of the three leaked products.
My expectation would therefore be an announcement sometime around the middle of October, followed by availability later in the month. That’s an expectation based on Apple’s previous launch patterns and the reported October window, rather than a confirmed date.
HomePod mini 2 looks increasingly likely to arrive alongside it.
Leaked Apple imagery has now given us our first apparent look at HomePod mini 2, and separate images revealed a refreshed color lineup including green and pink.
Apple has not properly updated HomePod mini hardware since the original model launched in 2020, making this refresh six years in the making. The new model is expected to gain a considerably newer processor, upgraded connectivity and support for Siri AI.
The Siri connection is important. Apple has been developing the new Apple TV and HomePod mini around its next-generation assistant, and Bloomberg has previously reported that the hardware was effectively waiting for Siri AI before being released.
Now that Siri AI is rolling out, that obstacle is disappearing.
The same applies to Apple TV.
Apple’s code explicitly identifies an unreleased “Apple TV 4K (4th generation)”, removing much of the ambiguity around whether the long-rumored update is still coming.
The current Apple TV 4K dates back to October 2022. Interestingly, that model was announced on October 18 through a press release rather than at an Apple event, which gives Apple a very obvious precedent for doing exactly the same thing again four years later.
That raises the other big question: will Apple actually hold an October event?
As The Apple Post reported earlier this month, Apple’s potential October lineup extends beyond these three products. New Macs and the company’s long-rumored smart-home display have also been linked to the final months of the year.
If Apple intends to unveil an entirely new smart-home category alongside Siri AI, a presentation would make sense. Apple would have considerably more to explain than it does with a faster Apple TV or a new HomePod mini color.
But Apple has also shown that it is perfectly comfortable announcing significant hardware without holding an event.
The 2022 iPad and Apple TV updates arrived through press releases. The 2024 iPad mini did the same. Apple then spread its M4 Mac announcements across three days of Newsroom releases and videos later that month.
HomePod mini 2, Apple TV 4K and an upgraded iPad mini could easily be handled in the same way.
The recent leaks arguably make that possibility more interesting. Product images existing inside Apple’s systems don’t tell us the announcement date, but they are consistent with hardware that is moving closer to release. They also don’t prove that all three products will launch on the same day.
If Apple chooses the press-release route, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the company dedicate several days to its remaining 2026 hardware rather than announcing everything at once.
There is also iPhone Duo to consider.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone opens for pre-orders on October 16 and reaches customers on October 23. Apple may want to avoid burying one of its biggest product launches of the year beneath another major announcement.
That could leave Apple with a window earlier in October, before iPhone Duo pre-orders begin, or later in the month once the foldable is in customers’ hands. Apple’s previous October announcements show that either is entirely plausible.
For now, I’d circle October rather than a specific day.
The iPad mini has repeatedly been linked to the end of the month, HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV remain on track for this year, and finding all three inside Apple’s own code gives us the strongest indication yet that their launches are getting close.
Whether they arrive under the lights of another Apple event or quietly appear on the Apple Newsroom may be the only real mystery left.
