Ho boy, this was a fun one!! Day 14 of @montereybayaquarium Deep Sea December Challenge

This oneโ€™s prompt was Twilight, so some Twilight Zone

Not the angle I drew it at, but honestly, looks better this way ๐Ÿ™‚

Mmm, tasty plankton! ๐ŸŸ

The tiny copepod may be the most abundant single species on Earth.ย They inhabit a huge range of waters, from fresh to hyper salty; from subterranean caves to high altitude lakes; from polar ice-water to deep-sea hydrothermal vents.

Tiny drifting plankton like copepods power enormous ocean food webs.ย Small fishes feed on them and are in turn eaten by bigger fishes, seabirds, seals, and whales. We, too, depend on fishes nourished by ocean plankton.
