- Previous injury to caudal carapace and amputation to right rear flipper. Minor fibropapilloma tumor. Good body condition.

Magnolia
Magnolia is a large, juvenile green sea turtle who was found floating near New Port Richey in Pasco county on Nov. 12, 2025. Magnolia has healed injuries to their caudal carapace and rear flippers from a previous traumatic event. Magnolia is otherwise in a good body condition and active. We will be performing diagnostics over the next few days to help determine the cause of their buoyancy issues.

Magnolia did exhibit floating behaviors with difficulty staying submerged. We will continue to monitor. They were placed in a kiddie pool. We are giving fluids daily.

Magnolia is able to be in water all day and overnight. We are slowly increasing their deep water swim time. Their CT scan showed possible gastrointestinal issues that could be the cause of their buoyancy.
All marine turtle footage taken in Florida was obtained with the approval of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) under conditions not harmful to marine turtles. Footage was acquired while conducting authorized conservation activities pursuant to FWC MTP-25/26-172.
