I have been using Audible for the last 10 years or longer, and I can say that I have quite a bit of knowledge on how it works. I am fully capable of answering the most important questions you may have about Audible.

In this post:

Is Audible Worth it?

I will be answering this question by focusing on the product—the ethics and the morals that are up to each one of us to judge and decide if we like it or not. So, when I think about Audible, all I can think of are the incredible audio shows, Originals, and the huge library of audiobooks that you can get from them, along with the various ways to access them. However, I want to keep this as easy to digest as possible, so let’s break it down into parts:

Is having an Audible Membership wroth it?

Having an Audible membership is the best way to maximize every penny it is worth, and it does not matter if you are a heavy reader or not; that is the best way to enjoy Audible. Let’s talk about memberships. Audible has two billing formats: monthly and annually, so check the table below:

What is the best Audible Membership Value?

It really depends on how invested you are in listening to content. Personally, when checking my Storygraph tracker from 2024, I listened to 10 audiobooks, and in 2025, I listened to 16 audiobooks. In this case, I had 2 credits rolling into 2025 from 2024, and I got a total of 14 when the plan renewed in 2025. So let’s analyze the options that fit me better:

  1. Premium 12 for $149.50: Two credits rolled over from 2024 into 2025, which allowed me to read 14 audiobooks. If I go into detail, I listened to one of the unlimited included listens (which didn’t cost me a credit), and I was very disappointed with The Ministry of Time… a terrible book, so they helped me out there. In all honesty, $12.45 per audiobook that I will keep is a very good deal (there are Kindle books that are around $12, so there isn’t much of a difference).
  2. Standard $8.99 (annual total $107.88): I could have listened to 12 audio titles for $107.88. This option is cheaper if I keep control over my listens and invest more time in the 500 paper books I own, so I could be a more well-rounded bookish person. The only drawback of the Standard Plan is that I will keep the books as long as I have the plan; if I decide to cancel, I will not be able to listen to them again unless I sign up again. However, I usually never listen to the same book twice, at least not that often.

Is the actual listening experience in Audible worth it?

Yes, the whole Audible environment is amazing. I listen on the Cloud Player at work, I listen on the Audible app when commuting or doing house chores, and my favorite pastime is going for a run while listening to Audible! Honestly, that is almost the main reason for me to exercise.

But why do I say “environment”? If you have Apple devices, you might understand. Everything Apple sells is connected and easy to sync—it honestly syncs on its own, and Audible does the same. When at work, I listen on the Cloud Player, and when I am done, I just close the player and open my Audible app, and I can keep listening where I left off. Even when I get home and want to use Alexa, it will continue from where I left off in the app—this is excellent for those of us who keep losing bookmarks and have to bend the book pages to remember where we were in the book.

How can I get use to listen to Audible audiobooks?

For me, Audible is worth it, and I have enjoyed their product for a very long time. I understand that sometimes people find it difficult to get into the audio experience, but something I did that could help was:

  1. To listen to audiobooks of books I have read to make easier the process of getting use to it.
  2. Or you can use the Amazon Matchmaker to find the audiobooks that are synced with your Kindle eBooks, so you can listen and read at the same time to practice.

Audible is a fantastic option for anyone who loves stories but might not have time to sit down with a book. It’s great for listening while you’re on the go, whether you’re driving, exercising, or just relaxing at home. There’s a membership for everyone, making it easy to find what works best for you.

So if you haven’t given Audible a try yet, why not check it out? You might discover a whole new world of books and stories that you can enjoy anytime, anywhere. Happy listening!
