Reverse Harem Books Where FMC Is “The Chosen” One

This list was slightly tricky because, technically speaking, almost all books (with female protagonists) have this trope in one form or another. I define this as books where:

  • Has one-of-a-kind rare special abilities in the worldbuilding
  • The chosen one concept is pre-established as part of the world-building already
  • If the FMC is not the chosen one, the story cannot hold. A.k.a the protagonist being a chosen one is a core pillar of the storyline and worldbuilding.

Fight like a girl…or a shifter of lore.

After growing up with nothing, I’ve finally found my path to freedom: I’m a shifter, an elite soldier who transforms into a monster.

All I have to do is survive.

I didn’t count on my three 6’5 roommates. Covered in tattoos, jeweled, and horned, these are like no men I’ve ever dealt with before.

They don’t think I belong.

They don’t think I’m strong enough for war.

They don’t think I can fight.

I’m about to prove them wrong.

The only problem, can I survive them discovering the secrets of my past? In the battle for life and death, everyone is so much more than they seem.

Jax, Ascher, and Cobra are going to be devastated when they discover my truth…just wait until they see my shifted form.

This series was not one of my favorites; I was more lukewarm about it, but it does meet the trope requirements.

Sadie is the only and first female alpha in a world where alphas are strictly male, making her more special. Even more notably is that the book had a Divergent-style blood test that revealed her as unique. If you love moments like that (I believe Percy Jackson had a similar moment too when he was revealed as a child of the Big Three), this book definitely has that.

But this series is personally not my favorite. For context I have never been a huge fan of MM in books, however, there was a period when I genuinely tried to give it a chance. This series was one of it.

Unfortunately, it did not make me enjoy the experience. What I personally look forward to in reverse harem is that the FMC is the center of the harem. That’s why it’s reverse harem and not poly. However, if this is not a dealbreaker for you and you can be happy with the additional MM dynamic, this series is worth a shot.

I’m just a girl. And it turns out, I’m Hercules.

I’m struggling to survive in a Titan infested world where Spartans, immortals from twelve royal families who have god-like powers and obscene wealth, rule over all. A shy-stammering foster child with nothing, I keep my head down, cover my scars, and focus on excelling in school. At least, I try to. Then it happens.

My blood test reveals I’m part of the powerful elite. I’m one of them. A Spartan.

Forced to attend the Spartan War Academy, I undergo the most harrowing test of all time to see if I have what it takes to be an immortal. There’s just a few problems. Achilles and Patro are my scary mentors. Kharon, the ferryman of death, and Augustus, the son of war, are my terrifying professors. Also, I’m pretty sure either someone’s stalking me everywhere I go, or my sanity’s slipping––I have a bad feeling both are true.

I’m surrounded by Villains and they’re smothering me with their hate, obsession, and dark possessiveness. Too bad for them, they have no clue just who they’re messing with.

As the title and synopsis suggest, our protagonist here is Hercules herself. The series in the very beginning as established a lost heir that is detrimental to keeping the titans at bay.

This series immediately caught my attention when I saw the premise. As an avid reverse harem lover and Greek mythology fan it’s like my dream come true.

Clash of Claws

In the world of the shifter elite, a safe female is one without power. For me, that means hide or die.

When wraiths invade my neighborhood and shit goes sideways, becoming a Guardian might be the only way to earn myself—and my beast—protection.

The elite training program begins at the local shifter college, so I pack up my swords and my brother, and off to school I go.

It’s no surprise that Guardian training is sexist as hell. But I didn’t expect to be trapped inside the campus walls, battling magical simulations rather than joining the real forces as they wage war on the monsters outside.

For me, the stakes are higher than bragging rights and points on the leaderboard.

I won’t be distracted, especially not by the pull I feel to the most powerful quad of males in the program.

Heath Blackwell, the dominant Alpha wolf and quad leader;

Wyatt Gale, the cocky playboy bear shifter;

Aiden Blackwell, the uptight jaguar who’s also my professor;

And Elijah Harrow, the terrifying yet entrancing basilisk.

I’ll fight this infuriating attraction because I know the score. Powerful quads want a central bond, and that will never be my future.

Become a Guardian. Stay alive. Nothing else matters.

This one has been on my radar for a while. I see it recommended on r/ReverseHarem all the time. However, the series is not complete, so I’m holding off to wait for it to finish first (ugh). The final book is expected to be completed in 2027.

Willa Knight: Dweller. Slave. Non-magical being.

In Minatsol, being a dweller means that you are literally no better than dirt. In fact, dirt might actually be more useful than Willa. Her life will be one of servitude to the sols, the magic-blessed beings who could one day be chosen to become gods.

At least her outer village is far removed from the cities of the sols, and she won’t ever be forced to present herself to them… Until one small mistake changes everything, and Willa is awarded a position to serve at Blesswood, the top sol academy in the world—a position that she definitely did not earn.

Under the sudden, watchful eye of the gods, she will be tasked to serve the Abcurse brothers, five sols built of arrogance, perfection and power. They are almost gods themselves, and under their service she is either going to end up sentenced to death, or else they are going to ruin her so badly that she will wish for it.

Either way, she is in trouble.

One of my favorite series of all time EVER. My entryway to the world of reverse harem. Everything from the relationship development, dynamic between Willa and her guys, world-building, were all so digestible and entertaining to read. Highly recommend!

I’m no angel… or am I?

Nameless. Forgotten. Lost on Earth for centuries with a disembodied voice as my only friend. Protecting the vulnerable without any help from above. No one to explain the rules. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

So when High Angelus Gavriel finds me killing a very bad man, can he really blame me? Before I can explain, he drags me back to the place he swears is my home: Sanctuary.

Halfway between Earth and the Celestial Realm, Sanctuary would be paradise if it weren’t for the daily decontamination showers, hours spent carving the murder-marks off my skin to discover my true name, and thousands of prim and proper angels who tell me I stink. Literally.

I’m the dirtiest Protector they’ve ever seen, but I can’t stop fantasizing about Gavriel and his best friends. Those sexy-as-sin High Angeli don’t know what to do with me, but I have a few ideas. I just need to find out my name so they’ll see who I am deep down… even if I have a feeling I’m no angel.

But what happens when my name is revealed… and it’s worse than anyone ever imagined?

I lowkey forgotten I’ve read this series before until I saw that I’ve borrowed it on KU before already. However the world-building was very cool! Unlike the previous books I’ve recommended, it’s more focused on angels and demons for its worldbuilding. The combination of the guys are also interesting, including but not limited to growly, sweet, mature, and more.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
