Today I propose to look forward and upward with all Christian women in order to rise above the current state. Many Bible women did not make it until they finally met Jesus. They hav gone through the worst things anyone could imagine in their past and yet they rise!
The Samaritan woman has no name. We can sum up the story of her life through reading the conversation between Jesus and the woman.
Jesus has shown to her that he knows all about her.
She is five times divorced and discarded after the men had used her, possibly abused and squandered off whatever inheritance she might have had from her maternal family. Shamed and rejected by her peers and community, she walks alone in the empty city street under the hot sun when people are having their naps. She is still young and pretty enough to have a man (who is probably married to someone else) as her partner. She is infamous. Everybody in the city knows who she is. She earns a living by sleeping with a man. It is a mere transactional relationship and not the kind of love which she has hungered and thirsted for all her life.
In such social isolation and loneliness, what does she do to give herself hope? She looks to religion. She knows a lot about the Samaritan religion. She hears of a Messiah to come. She looks to His coming. She asks Jesus about worshiping God. She probably worships God on her own when allowed at a distance from other worshippers, hiding behind boulders, peeping out from behind trees, and tailing the festive religious processions, often enduring scolding and casting away by religious men and priests.
Jesus knows all about her. He comes to this town out of His way just to meet her. He talks to her about worship God. He says to her the only thing that really matters to her and matters to God!
John 4:23-24 New King James Version
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
There is an urgency of the time and a calling for her. Now is the time.
The Father God is looking for such true worshipper.
The true worshipper worships God in spirit and in truth.
The fact that Jesus comes all the way just to meet her and tell her this urgent message specially for her says a lot about her. God is seeking her. She is seeking God. God sees her heart. Jesus has heard God. He does everything that God does.
The woman believes Jesus and is saved instantly. She became the first evangelist, telling the whole city the Good News of the Messiah, Jesus! Many believed because of her testimony. Later many more believed Jesus because of His own word.
Has the problem of the Samaritan woman solved? When many of the city folks become believers of Jesus, the life of the woman changes. She is now a new woman of strength. Many of the new converts will help her to fit into their community and earn a descent living. Her own relatives will accept her back to their household too. There will be nothing more to gossip about her. A lot of what she does is worship God. She may lead a group of women who worship God like Mariam, Moses’ sister did a long time ago.
Thus, the woman fulfills her lifelong goal and vision, a worshipper of God in spirit and truth. Why? She relentlessly follows Jesus and His truth and likely becomes the mother of many spiritual children.

The Song of Miria Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took the timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
