Dolly Parton, the legendary country music singer has been peacefully laid to rest. According to her great niece, Lainey Parton, the family held a private service in Nashville last Friday. Dolly passed away at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer earlier last week. She is resting next to Carl Dean, her late husband, at Tennessee City’s Woodland Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
In an emotional tribute on Instagram the next day, Lainey says that her passing “…still doesn’t seem real to her. I’m going to miss her laugh, her voice, and knowing she was there for me.” She describes Dolly, who she calls ‘granny,’ as the most supportive, empathetic, loving, and wise person in her life.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, gifts, or condolences, people send their donations to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The organization has been set up set up to provide free books to the country’s young children. Dolly Parton’s father could not read, and this is what inspired her to set up the foundation. Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House is known as the home of country music. Well, it is fitting that it was the venue of the star-studded memorial event in her honor.

Dolly’s Famous political Stance
Jelly Roll, one of the largest American music superstars of modern times is one of the biggest names to pay homage at the Opry event. One contrast commentators are trying to make after Dolly’s passing is her rare ability to stay out of political controversies . The discussion comes after Jelly Roll’s vicious lampooning of President Donald Trump in his monologue on the late night comedy show Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The singer likened Trump to a ‘fat pig,’ and suggested that the country will be happy to get rid of him in the same way that Jelly Roll recently lost a lot of weight. Supporters of Donald Trump, a large part of his fanbase, have responded by boycotting and unfollowing him en masse on social media. They continue to voice their displeasure over his perceived betrayal in light of their seemingly cordial relationship.
Dolly Parton has never delved into party politics and always opted for a neutral stance on United States political storms. Even when pressed to comment on political hot-button issues playing out between the Democrats and Republicans, Dolly always maintained her neutrality. Her famous quote, “I am not political, I’m an entertainer.” remains emblematic of her grace and wisdom with regard to choosing political sides.
Both Republican and Democrat presidents have offered to present Dolly Parton with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This is the country’s highest civilian honor, and it remains testament to her discretion.
Dolly Parton maintains global superstardom, and one of her greatest hits, 9 to 5, is topping the singles charts in the UK as reported by the Official Chart Company. This is thanks to a surge of fans streaming her music on the news of her passing. Tennessee’s governor, Bill Lee, states that his administration intends to name Nashville International Airport in the late star’s memory.
