April Wrap Up – Down the Rabbit Hole

I managed to somehow completely miss out March wrap up but considering my March was a bit of a mess between being ill and work, it wasn’t good for reading or anything apart from work. But April was better! The weather was better, I wasn’t ill (always a big plus), I’m getting to know the new systems at work, and I read a lot of Kindle Unlimited. I was planning on stopping the service as I felt like I wasn’t reading enough from it (I’ve had books on there for years by now). Then I discovered that I could resubscribe for another 3 months for 99p so I’m back on it, but I am still trying to read all the books that I had on there for so long.

Books I Read

  1. Beware of Chicken 2 (Beware of Chicken #2)
  2. Ultra-Processed People: The New Science of Food
  3. Seeds of Starlight (Star Wars Adventures: Audible Originals)
  4. Padawan’s Pride (Star Wars Adventures: Audible Originals)
  5. Hot for Teacher (Richardson Sibling Trilogy #1)
  6. The River Prince (Realms of Love #2)
  7. Done and Dusted (Rebel Blue Ranch #1)
  8. Raising Hare
  9. London Fog (BrewBiz #2)
  10. Bite (Sugar Daddies of Crestfire Hill #1)
  11. Sister in Law: Fighting for Justice in a System Designed by Men
  12. Northanger Abbey
  13. Bro and the Beast 2 (The Wolf’s Mate #2)
  14. Omega & the Beast (Vale Valley Season Three #1)
  15. Continental Crimes
  16. Without Ever Reaching the Summit: A Himalayan Journey
  17. Winging It (Hockey Ever After #1)
  18. How to Bite Your Neighbor and Win a Wager (Guides For Dating Vampires #1)

  20. Private Revolutions: Coming of Age in a New China
  21. Funny Story

Favourite Book of the Month

This was a really hard choice! Apart from the reread (I had a great time with Northanger Abbey this month), there were a few books which I really enjoyed. I loved the next Lady Hardcastle book, Private Revolutions made me more interested in checking out more books about this part of China’s history/current day, Without Ever Reaching the Summit had a wonderful writing style that I really enjoyed, but I think Raising Hare just hit me. I loved the writing style, I loved the story about this hare and how the author approached raising it and the subtle discussion about our impact on nature that we don’t see.

Least Favourite Book of the Month

This was also very hard because there were two books on my KU list which I really didn’t like and it was only because they were 100-150 pages each that I managed to finish them. Omega and the Beast had a plot that really did come out of nowhere (one chapter we’re fine, the next chapter suddenly they’re in danger) but Bite is supposedly about a sugar daddy vampire with omegaverse and barely pays attention to the first two of those things. Frankly the omegaverse was the least interesting part of that premise and yet we spent all our time on it. Add to a friend group that is just there to be an overprotective blob that I can’t tell anyone apart and insta love but not in the fun way, and I was just so bored. Even if it is on KU, I won’t be continuing the series.

Reading Updates

Just ignoring all my reading goals in order to get some of my KU books read, though I did finish two books from the Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction Longlist. I’m hoping to get the shortlist done by the time the winner is announced and I’m on track for that! I’m behind on my pages goal and my TBR is at +50 so I definitely need to read some books I own.

I had a good time with some of the KU books, and others were really not worth it. I did manage to get my Orilium TBR read (wrap up here) but only by reading a lot of books very last minute! I’ve signed up for another Goodreads challenge starting in May so my TBR is likely to go all over the place for the next three months.

How did your April go? Did anyone else take part in Orilium?
