A Fever in the Heartland by Timonthy Egan

I listened to the audiobook of A Fever in the Heartland in June and would highly recommend it. It tells the story of the bravery o one woman as she takes on and defeats the leader of the ku klux klan. It’s narrated by the author and is a really fascinating and fast paced read!

The Box in the Woods by Maureen Johnson

I am reading the Truly Devious series by Maureen Johnson this year, its such a fun YA thriller series! Stevie, our main character, is a detective and in this book she is hired by the owner of a summer camp to solve a murder that happened there in the past. These novels are very fun, always very well created and really keep the reader guessing!

Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett

I am listening my way through Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, which is an absolutely brilliant way to read these books! Unseen Academicals was the next book and I really enjoyed it. Mostly focused on football and the university making a team, I loved the casual nods and jokes about the sport!

The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson

This was my book of the month by a mile in June! The Raven Scholar is a fantastic fantasy novel crossed with a thriller. There is a murder to solve, and a deadly series of trials to overcome, and a sprinkling of romance too! This book is over 600 pages but it flew past so fast for me!

Scythe by Neal Shusterman

I have had this series on my TBR shelf for a long time, it’s often compared to The Hunger Games, and I knew I had to see for myself! This was a pretty good first book in a trilogy, I can definitely see the comparisons to THG. The worldbuilding is excellent, and it’s a very interesting idea for a book! A quick read, if you are a fan of YA I would check it out!

Immortal Consequences by I.V. Marie

I was lucky enough to receive a proof copy of this novel, an intriguing YA dark academia novel. It’s the trend in YA at the moment, and this novel does something a wee bit different, with the school being set in the afterlife. There is a good bit of romance in the novel too, but I found it quite sweet, and it didn’t really impact my overall enjoyment.
