June was a good month for me! I had a couple of weeks off work and I did a little travelling down south and saw a friend of mine. It also meant I didn’t do as much reading but what I did read, they were books I picked up on my holiday. It was a relatively new thing for me, to read books that I bought as soon as I bought them, but I’m very glad I did.
Books I Read
- Role Model (Game Changers #5)
- Loyalty In Death (In Death #9)
- Mother Mary Comes To Me
- Finding Albion: Myth, Folklore and the Quest for a Hidden Britain
- Spy x Family, Vol. 15 (SpyxFamily #15)
- The Mummy Case (Amelia Peabody #3)
- My Grandfather, the Master Detective
- The Family At Number Five
- Uncommon Wealth: Britain and the Aftermath of Empire
- The Cornish Mistress (Ayssheton #2)
- Memoirs of a Dangerous Alien
- Classic Stories of the Sea
- Cornish Horrors: Tales from the Land’s End
- Japanese Myths: An Easy-Going Culture Journey into Japanese Mythology and Folklore — From Yokai and Kitsune to Anime and Pop Culture
- Witness In Death (In Death #10)
Favourite Book of the Month
There were several books I really enjoyed this month. The In Death series is always fun, and I really liked reading some of the books I own (Uncommon Wealth, Cornish Horrors, My Grandfather the Master Detective) but my favourite was probably Classic Stories of the Sea.
Least Favourite Book of the Month
This was definitely an easy category to choose. While The Cornish Mistress was bizarre in a slightly charming way, Mother Mary Comes to Me was a disappointment, I found that The Family at Number Five was just boring, skirting all conflict completely.
Reading Updates
Despite half the books I read being ones I own, my TBR still went up by three so I’m now at +58 books. I definitely need to get on with reading books I own so I don’t have to get rid of anything by the end of the year!
I finished a couple of books on the Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction Longlist but I’m in the middle of doing a group reading challenge on Goodreads so I’ve definitely been focusing on that.
I definitely want to focus on my ARCs next month since I am very, very behind on them.
